Bill Clinton remembers those romantic Times Square hookers UPDATED with VIDEO

Remember back when hookers were polluting the public right of way in the theater district? Bill Clinton thinks that was romantic and fascinating:

Bill Clinton Recalls “Romantic” Days of Prostitutes in Times Square

Clinton said he first visited Times Square in 1964 when he was a freshman at Georgetown University. He said he saw “a hooker approach a man in a gray flannel suit.” He said it was “pretty heavy stuff for a guy from Arkansas.”

Clinton said the area is cleaner and safer now — and that’s good.

But he sounded like he missed the old days.

“I still have vivid memories of it,” he said. “Romantic. Fascinating. It was dangerous.”

Melts your heart, doesn’t he?

UPDATE, Friday April 15,
Here’s Bill, saying it on camera

Emitting carbon in Copenhagen

Andrew Gilligan reports from the summit zoo:
Copenhagen climate summit: 1,200 limos, 140 private planes and caviar wedges
Copenhagen is preparing for the climate change summit that will produce as much carbon dioxide as a town the size of Middlesbrough.

According to the organisers, the eleven-day conference, including the participants’ travel, will create a total of 41,000 tonnes of “carbon dioxide equivalent”, equal to the amount produced over the same period by a city the size of Middlesbrough.

For those of us not familiar, Middlesbrough has a population of 142,691 or so, larger than Savannah, Ga (or a small African country).

As it turns out there aren’t enough limos on Denmark to meet demand, so they’re bringing them from Germany and Sweden:

Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. “We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”

And why bother flying coach?

The airport says it is expecting up to 140 extra private jets during the peak period alone, so far over its capacity that the planes will have to fly off to regional airports – or to Sweden – to park, returning to Copenhagen to pick up their VIP passengers.

Looks like the Swedes are having a sweet time from all this, but the hotels in Copenhagen are loving it,

The top hotels – all fully booked at £650 a night – are readying their Climate Convention menus of (no doubt sustainable) scallops, foie gras and sculpted caviar wedges.

I’m curious at how does one sculpt caviar, but I digress.

Ironically, about the only ones who won’t be rolling in dough are the whores,

the local sex workers’ union – they have unions here – has announced that all its 1,400 members will give free intercourse to anyone with a climate conference delegate’s pass. The term “carbon dating” just took on an entirely new meaning.

Gilligan says

At least the sex will be C02-neutral

but he forgets that humans emit CO2, particularly from all that heavy breathing.

But hey, Christmas is a religious holiday that has no place at a United Nations function, so there won’t be any Christmas trees.

The global alarmists wouldn’t want to have competition for their faith-based cult, would they?

———————————–

As if climategate wasn’t enough, Al Gore may be worrying about this:

One of the problems facing the negotiators at Copenhagen is what to do with the mountain of carbon credits that Russia threatens to put on the market. In a news report late last month, the Washington Post noted that under the formula reached under the Kyoto Protocol, “Russia is expected to post the largest absolute drop in emissions from 1990 levels of any of the countries that signed the treaty. But the decline is almost entirely the result of the 1991 collapse of the Soviet economy rather than environmental measures by the government. Critics say Moscow doesn’t deserve to keep its carbon credits because it didn’t earn them with any special effort. ” The West could retrospectively compensate the Russians for the collapse of the Soviet economy.

How else to face this? Borrowing!

“Borrow to the hilt to stop global warming, says Lord Stern”,

Imagine that. A global warming dyed in the wool believer thinks borrowing to the hilt is a good idea.

In the meantime, China, India, Brazil and South Africa are not going along with the recommendation to cut emissions. I’m willing to bet that their whores remain honest and insist on demanding cold hard cash, too.

Al won’t be going to the conference. Maybe he’s contemplating going into the conference limo rental business, if only to leverage himself from the possible loss in the carbon-credit business.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Philly, ACORN edition

With the ones in Baltimore, Washington, DC, Brooklyn, San Bernardino and San Diego, about the only thing to differentiate ACORN from the traveling Broadway show hit The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, is one… in Texas, but hey, they got one in Philly, just in case you were looking for it!

ACORN Video: Prostitution Scandal in Philadelphia, PA Part I

Here’s the video:

By the way,

We muted the audio of the ACORN employees on the video released today due to ACORN’s legal attack upon us. We call upon ACORN to state publicly now that it has no objection to the public release of any its employees oral statements to us. If they are interested in the truth, why wouldn’t they do so?

We’ll see what the unedited tape looks like once Breitbart releases it, but look at it this way, with the the ones in Baltimore, Washington, DC, Brooklyn, San Bernardino and San Diego, you can’t help but realize: These are your tax dollars we’re talking about. These are the people who, as “community activists” have no scruples at all to advise a pimp and a prostitute intent on bringing children illegally into the country to whore themselves.

And you’re paying them.

More from Doug Ross.

ACORN files suit against filmmakers

ACORN files suit against filmmakers

ACORN filed suit today in Maryland against conservative filmmakers James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles and conservative Web site Breitbart.com for secretly taping the organization’s employees at its Baltimore office.

In the complaint, ACORN alleges that the filmmakers entered into the organization’s offices in July with a “hidden camera and microphone” and taped employees Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams. Both employees are listed as plaintiffs on the complaint, filed in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

The crux of the lawsuit centers around a Maryland law which makes it illegal to tape someone without their consent – ACORN is alleging O’Keefe and Giles did so. ACORN is asking for $500,000 in damages to be awarded to each of the employees filmed by O’Keefe and Giles, and ACORN itself wants $1 million in damages.

Ace is all over this story, and has a couple of suggestions:

Bring ACORN In as Co-Defendant! I asked Zero about this and he wrote back:

Was writing a whole paragraph, then remembered the term: apportionment of fault (or that’s one term for it anway). [re: what I was calling contributory negligence, which isn’t the right term here, as this isn’t a negligence case — ace.]I had also veering off into left field since I was focusing on that — if that were the only issue, then it would be a tactical decision based on MD law, which I don’t know. But then I realized it didn’t really matter, because the smart thing to do actually would be to sue ACORN as a third party defendant (or something to that effect) up front, claiming that any damages for the emotional distress that might be assessed against the defendants should actually be paid by ACORN. It might not shake out that way in the end, but I think counter-suing ACORN as a third-party defendant would be a smart tactical move.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. ACORN caused at least some, if not most (if not all) of the damages to the individuals here, so why should ACORN not sit right besides Breitbart et al. as damages are figured and the relative fault of those responsible is assessed?

ACORN would be suing Breitbart for one purpose but a defendant along with Breitbart standing against the individual plaintiffs.

It would be… anarchy, really. It would be Thunderdome. Kookoobananas, baby.

Cleaning Up the Terminology: A lawyer writes:

Defendants can cross-claim against Acorn for equitable indemnity and ask for an apportionment of the damages. Also, Acorn also might have fallen into an anti-SLAPP trap.

I leave it to the lawyers, but it looks like disclosure on this case is going to be something else. Take a look at this:
ACORN’s Lobbying Shenanigans.

This is only the beginning, oh yes.

The Best Little Whorehouse in San Diego, ACORN edition

Just when you think it doesn’t get worse, James O’Keefe has videotaped an ACORN employee giving explicit instructions on how to smuggle a dozen young Salvadoran girls (“thirteen to fifteen years old”) into the country,

ACORN Video: Prostitution Scandal in San Diego, CA

The ACORN employee claims to be a lawyer (which is a classic lie) and advises them to bring them in through Tijuana.

Then he invited them to an immigration event. Mi casa es tu casa.

The Best Little Whorehouse in San Bernardino, ACORN edition

Here they are, again: ACORN advises you on to set up your whorehouse, again,

Allahpundit has the full video.

Whether that woman is serious, crazy or what, I leave for you to decide (and the cops to investigate). The fact is that she was the only ACORN employee running that empty office. The other three videos shows similar nonchalance when O’Keefe and Giles explained their prospective enterprise.

You must read Betsy’s Musings on the new ACORN video

Why is that the way they respond? Their reaction really lends itself to the conclusion that it is not the first time they’ve heard that the people coming to them for advice want to set up a criminal enterprise. Their interest is in helping their clients no matter what the people are doing. Maybe they just want to increase their numbers of how many people they’re helping. It seems to me for each video, the ACORN office is empty besides its employees and the videomakers. Maybe they aren’t getting much business so they have give especially good service to whomever comes in, no matter what they’re told the business enterprise is going to be. Or maybe they just are inured to criminal activities and just adopt a non-judgmental approach.

Betsy also discusses how the media continues to ignore these stories – go read the whole post.

But ACORN’s corruption is deep, and pervasive. John Fund discusses in his article, Acorn Runs Off the Rails
‘We’re just community organizers, just like the president used to be.’
,

Last week, 11 of its workers were accused by Florida prosecutors of falsifying information on 888 voter registration forms. Last month, Acorn’s former Las Vegas, Nev., field director, Christopher Edwards, agreed to testify against the group in a case in which Las Vegas election officials say 48% of the voter registration forms the group turned in were “clearly fraudulent.” Acorn itself is charged with 13 counts of illegally using a quota system to compensate workers in an effort to boost the number of registrations. (Acorn has denied wrongdoing in all of these cases.)

A growing number of people once affiliated with Acorn want nothing more to do with the group. Marcel Reid, for example, was one of eight national Acorn board members who were removed last year after demanding an audit of the group’s books. She notes that Acorn received $7.4 million in contributions from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) between 2005 and 2008 but actively fights unionization efforts by its own employees. Ms. Reid also notes that Acorn was sanctioned by the National Labor Relations Board in 2003 for illegally firing workers trying to organize a union.

In 1995, Acorn unsuccessfully sued California to be exempt from the minimum wage, claiming that “the more that Acorn must pay each individual outreach worker . . . the fewer outreach workers it will be able to hire.” The decision to file that lawsuit was made by Wade Rathke, who founded Acorn in 1970 and was its long-time leader. He was forced by the group’s board to resign last year after it found that he’d engaged in a cover-up of a nearly $1 million embezzlement of Acorn funds by his brother Dale, then the group’s chief financial officer.

As for those alleging racism, let’s ask them a question: O’Keefe and Giles clearly explain that they will be prostituting girls as young as thirteen from El Salvador. Have any of the ACORN employees shown on these videos concerned about about those girl’s minority rights?

And while you’re at it, where are the children right’s activists?

Thanks to Dan for the link.

Senate votes to cut off federal funding for ACORN

Looks like the videos had some effect, when the voter fraud investigations didn’t: Senate votes to cut off federal funding for ACORN

Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE) introduced an amendment to the HUD and Transportation appropriation bill to strip ACORN of all federal funding. A week ago, Johanns wouldn’t have gotten the amendment to the floor. Today, however, after three straight days of BigGovernment.com’s video exposés of ACORN offices in Washington DC, New York City, and Baltimore offering assistance to pimping, tax evasion, and trafficking in underage Salvadorean girls, Johanns not only got his vote — but he got an impressive bipartisan showing. The Senate passed the Johanns amendment 83-7.

The seven six Democrats, one Independent who voted against it are:

* Dick Durbin (D-IL)
* Roland Burris (D-IL)
* Robert Casey (D-PA)
* Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
* Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
* Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
* Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)

And the Republicans might have actually started to find their gonads: Republican Lawmakers Turn Up the Heat on ACORN
A growing number of Republican lawmakers are calling for congressional hearings and IRS audits of ACORN following the release of three videotapes showing employees at the community organization assisting a purported “pimp” and “prostitute” in obtaining housing.

And,

Meanwhile, Jerry Schmetterer, director of public information for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, told FOXNews.com that officials will be “taking a look” into Brooklyn’s ACORN office.

I’ll really be impressed when a RICO prosecution gets going.

Don Surber, however, wants ACORN slapped on sartorial grounds:

Last night, at Ace’s
For the Record: The Senate Voted Overwhelmingly to Strip ACORN of Federal Funding, But the MSM Still Isn’t Even Reporting on There Being Any Controversy Whatsoever:

The Past-Tense Media

Because keeping you ignorant is a noble mission.

Best Little Whorehouse in Brooklyn, ACORN edition

Well, there was one on Broadway, so why not Brooklyn?

Turning the country into a whorehouse, one city at a time, the folks at the Brooklyn Acorn branch have the advice for an enterprising pimp/businessman/prospective Congressional candidate who would be importing under-age Salvadorian girls:

A Blog For All

One time is a fluke, twice is a coincidence. Three times? That’s a pattern and bodes poorly for ACORN. This is a group with significant power within the Democratic party and forms a grassroots base. The stupidity and criminality of providing advice to the duo of O’Keefe and Giles posing as pimps on how to break the law, engage in child prostitution and other criminal acts is breathtaking in its scope.

The major newspapers are silent on this.

But hey, the authorities are looking into it, aren’t they?
