Boy meets girl:
tonycsport:Hi
claudiacartagena82: Hi, sorry I know you wrote me last night
tonycsport: Yes
claudiacartagena82: But I wasn’t at the computer. I saw it this morning. Did you get my picture in your email?
tonycsport: Yes, I’m looking at it. You sent the same picture twice
claudiacartagena82: Yeah but bigger
tonycsport: Yes, it’s true
claudiacartagena82: I don’t have that many photographs in this computer. I’ll have to look for some more. The ones I have here are from a wedding
tonycsport: Well, as long as it wasn’t you who got married hehehe
claudiacartagena82: No it was a friend’s wedding. I’m single. It’s because I work so much here, and in Colombia men are macho and I don’t like that. I spend so much time searching for information and reading
tonycsport: Hehehe, very good. You know, I don’t see myself as macho
claudiacartagena82: Tell me about yourself, are you single?
tonycsport: Yes
claudiacartagena82: Aa-ha
Internet chat ‘dupes Castro son’ (h/t the Baron)
A Cuban exile blogger from Miami says he used a female internet alter ego to gain access to a member of the usually impervious family of Fidel Castro.
Luis Dominguez says he used the character to begin an online relationship with 40-year-old Antonio, the son of ex-leader Mr Castro.
He refused to apologise for the deception, saying he wanted to show the “opulent lifestyles” of the Castros.
Cubans on the island are denied internet access:
As anyone who covers Cuban politics and the Castro family knows, gaining access of any sort is far from easy.
The Castro family has had a massive security cordon around it for decades – in large part due to the many attempts to remove the island’s communist government from power.
“While everyday Cubans were banned from using the internet cafés in Havana hotels, this guy had a BlackBerry and unlimited access to the web.”, and Tony is a doctor, too:
Castro, using Canada-based email address “tonycsport@yahoo.ca”, also bragged about lavish trips to Cuban resorts, his designer clothing, Apple computer and BlackBerry with internet access – which is denied to ordinary Cubans.
He also sent ‘Claudia’ photos of himself during his travels around the world as physician to the Cuban baseball team, including shots of him at the Beijing Olympics.
Despite being engaged to a 26-year-old TV producer in Havana, Castro’s correspondence quickly progressed from friendly to amorous.
“You know something, I want something more with you,” Tonycsport wrote during one chat session.
In another he wrote that he wanted to “kiss you, love you and make love to you.”
Eeew.
The news is all over the world. Babalu posts,
First his ex-wife, girlfriend, whatever comes to join the exile mafia in Miami, where she gets busted for check fraud and finds a new career in porno. Then he travels to San Diego as the Cuban baseball team’s physician where he is heckled mercilessly by yours truly and now he falls for an online prank. Dude can’t seem to catch a break.
Antonio Castro Soto del Valle, a 42-year-old orthopedic surgeon and the Cuban national baseball team’s doctor, broke security protocol in boastful e-mails to what he thought was a 26-year-old Colombian named Claudia whom he’d met on a dating Web site. Using his Yahoo account, he gave away his home address, phone, travel plans — and even the times he moved unprotected by bodyguards.
Luis was on the popular TV show A mano limpia:
The broadcast revealed that Antonio Castro hasn’t quite embraced communist asceticism, as he bragged of designer clothes, world travel, and weekends at the beach.
“Communist asceticism” my foot. Tony’s father Fidel and Che Guevara used to gift each other Rolexes. Che’s Rolex was a GMT Master:
Which comes to show (again) that to be a Communist you first have to be a hypocrite.
I’ll be talking about this in today’s podcast at 11AM Eastern.
