Puerto Rico: La Yulin gets a t-shirt

The mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz, has the T-Shirt Shack working a NASTY,

She didn’t have the guts to wear it in front of the POTUS,

but she waited until he left to bad-mouth him to open-borders advocate Jorge Ramos on Univision,

“Nasty woman” has become somewhat of a battle cry for women who oppose Trump, 71, ever since he used the term to describe Democratic rival Hillary Clintonduring the 2016 presidential election.

Ramos’s daughter worked for Hillary’s campaign. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Tucker Carlson talks to Jorge Ramos

Jorge Ramos earns US$75million/yr for pushing an open border for Mexicans coming to the U.S. and crying “race war“.

Tucker Carlson interviewed him the other night.

Carlson correctly called out Ramos, a “blue-eyed rich Mexican,” on his race baiting.

Jorge Ramos’s “racial war” rhetoric

Jorge Bonilla reports that Univision’s open borders advocate is kicking it up a notch,

Ramos, the journalist that Trump booted from a press conference nearly a year ago, claims that the hatred, racism and intolerance that were the hallmarks of the Republican’s campaign have already caused a racial war.

“It’s war. We are in a pitched battle between those who defend immigrants and the anti-immigrant. Since all these immigrants are without protection, the mayors of big cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Denver, and several universities, just to name a few, have decided to take charge of immigrant defense”, he says.

…

“The country is totally divided, full of hatreds, resentments, a very dangerous desire for vengeance, and with very little tolerance. What is being discussed here is how to resist Trump”, he added.

“Racial war” may not be a good idea to promote by the whiter-than-white Ramos.

But then we’re talking about the guy who wanted to convince his audience that Jeb! is Latino.

Mexico: Media lose their sh*t over Trump

Mexico’s media, which have been taking out the sledge-o-matic and going full Gallagher on Donald Trump, are now in a full-froth frenzy.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had invited both Trump and Hillary Clinton. While it’s possible the Mexican president never expected either to accept the invite, Trump decided to show up anyway.

Prior to Trump’s visit, this week Mexican media had been obsessing over the sudden death of singer Juan Gabriel. The visit erased Juan Gabriel’s name from the headlines, and replaced it with Trump’s. Grief turned into wrath.

Twitter lit up like the hay truck in Breaking Bad,

while the TV talking heads and newspapers joined in.

There may be five stages of grief, but Mexico’s media have three stages of wrath:

Stage One: Before Trump landed,
The visit was announced late on Tuesday, and the initial reaction was, as it is in grief situations, denial,

“Mexicans invited Trump to visit?!?! BUT WHY?!?! Do they want to find out what the wall will look like?”

Los mejicanos han invitado a Trump de visita?!?!
PERO POR QUÉ?!?!
Querrán saber como quiere q quede el muro? pic.twitter.com/Klfvb0ymdG

— Fatima (@magdalomismo) August 31, 2016

Stage Two: The actual visit,
The morning appointment was rescheduled to start at 3pm Mexico time. A few protesters took to the streets to express “indignation, shame and anger,”

“How can the president invite someone to our country who has offended us, who has humiliated us, who has treated us badly as Mexicans?”

Former president Vicente Fox piped in,

“We don’t like him. We don’t want him,” former Mexican President Vicente Fox told CNN. The former president called Peña Nieto a “traitor” for extending the invitation to Trump, who has repeatedly attacked Mexico over the last year and has vowed to force the nation to pay for construction of a massive border wall.

Open-borders activist and so-called journalist™ Jorge Ramos piled on both Trump and Peña Nieto,

In simple terms, today’s meeting is between 2 of the most despised and hated people by millions of Mexicans on both sides of the border.

— JORGE RAMOS (@jorgeramosnews) August 31, 2016

Here’s the press conference,

Pay close attention to the 21:00 point where the press ask questions. Trump seamlessly took over the question and answer section. Peña Nieto looked like he had been hit with a 2 x 4 on the side of the head.

Stage Three: The aftermath,
Trump was already in his plane flying to Arizona by the time Peña Nieto roused himself enough to tweet that Mexico’s not paying for the wall:
“From the start of the conversation, I made clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall.”

Al inicio de la conversación con Donald Trump dejé claro que México no pagará por el muro.

— Enrique Peña Nieto (@EPN) August 31, 2016

Open-borders activist and so-called journalist™ Jorge Ramos is crying bitter tears. In today’s WaPo,
Jorge Ramos: Peña Nieto was meek with Trump. Latino voters in the U.S. won’t be. He questions the timing,

The timing for the hurried meeting was completely off: It was just hours before Trump’s speech on immigration in Phoenix, and just one day before Peña Nieto’s State of the Union address. Not only that; Mexicans are still mourning the death of a musical legend, Juan Gabriel.

Because matters of state should take second tier to pop singers? At least Ramos reminded his audience (emphasis added)

(A disclosure I’ve made before: My daughter, Paola Ramos, works for the campaign of Hillary Clinton, Trump’s Democratic opponent.)

During Trump’s immigration speech last evening, Mexican historian Enrique Krauze resorted to name-calling,

“Trump should have never set foot on Mexico. I’m now listening to him [speak] against immigrants. Our “friend’s” fascist essence has never been clearer.”

Trump no debió pisar México. Lo escucho ahora contra los inmigrantes. Nunca ha estado más clara la esencia fascista de nuestro “amigo”.

— Enrique Krauze (@EnriqueKrauze) September 1, 2016

Maybe Don Enrique forgot the time then-president Calderón showed up at the U.S. Congress condemning U.S. law.

Krauze’s son, León, who is currently promoting his new book on Mexican immigrants to the U.S. (most are undocumented), this morning admits that Donald Trump went to Mexico and won – begrudgingly, since according to him,

International bullying got the presidential seal of approval.

Trump went to Mexico, and perhaps what the pundits fear most is that “The world is run by those who show up”, and Trump did.

Mexico’s President Faces New Scrutiny. President Enrique Peña Nieto, whose past two years in office have been shadowed by a conflict-of-interest scandal linked to a Mexico City mansion, is facing new scrutiny linked to the first family’s use of a luxury apartment in Miami.

Ricardo Pierdant, a Miami-based businessman, in 2013 paid close to $30,000 in property taxes on behalf of first lady Angélica Rivera for an apartment she owns in Miami, according to tax records seen by The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Pierdant is a close friend of Mexico´s first family, according to Mr. Peña Nieto´s office.

The first lady purchased her apartment in the wealthy island enclave of Key Biscayne in 2005.

Mr. Pierdant subsequently purchased another apartment directly above Ms. Rivera’s, according to Miami property records.

En español: Mensaje a Jorge Ramos (with English excerpts)

Discurso del joven Abogado Cubano Rafael Alejandro Hernández Real, quien vive en Mexico:

Humberto Fontova did a little translating,“Cubans migrants to Mexico are arrested, beaten, extorted, deported by the Mexican gov. in collusion with Castro! Where’s your indignation Mr Jorge Ramos (a Mexican citizen!)”

* “You claim to be a journalist not a politician. But Trump threw you out only because you were out of line. Your behavior was shameful.

* “Every week thousands of Cubans migrants to Mexico are arrested, beaten, extorted and swindled by the Mexican gov. in collusion with the Castro tyranny! But I’ve never heard you utter a peep against the Mexican government over this, Mr Jorge Ramos! And you claim to be a proud and vocal Mexican citizen, Mr Jorge Ramos!”

* Why not come to Mexico and try telling President Pena Nieto that deporting Cubans to Castro means they’ll live in a prison. Why not practice what you preach, Mr Ramos?!

* You denounce the U.S.–a country that opened its doors to you, yourself, sir–but you refuse to utter a peep against your native Mexico, that deports Cubans not because they’re delinquents–but as a matter of policy.”

* I’m speaking to you as someone who was jailed for 49 days in a Mexican prison for migrants and freed only after a hunger strike where I almost died.”

* “Next time you attend a Trump press conference you might ask permission to speak, and wait your turn like all the others. And since you seem to like to talk without permission come to Mexico and try that stunt!”

And,
If Ramos wants to report on crisis at the border, let him travel to the Colombia-Venezuela border.

What about the Trump/Ramos thing?

The bottom line:
In the battle of the egos, they each got out of it exactly what they wanted.

And, by the way, Univision’s influence in the Latino news market is vastly overrated, and it’s not even owned or controlled by Lateenos.

UPDATE
According to this study by the Pew Research Center, 82% of Hispanics consume news media in English, while the number who do so in Spanish decreases. Likewise,

The rise in use of English news sources has been driven by an increase in the share of Hispanics who say they get their news
exclusively in English. According to the survey,
one-third (32%) of Hispanic adults in 2012 did this, up from 22% in 2006. By contrast, the share of Hispanic adults who get their news exclusively in Spanish has decreased to 18% in 2012 from 22% in 2006.

Mexicans account 44% of the increase in the total immigrant population in the last year UPDATED

Paul Bedard reports:
Census: Record 42.1 million immigrants in U.S., Mexicans drive latest surge

• Growth in the last year was led by a rebound in the number of Mexican immigrants, which increased by 740,000 from 2014 to 2015 — accounting for 44 percent of the increase in the total immigrant population in the last year.

• The total Mexican immigrant population (legal and illegal) reached 12.1 million in the second quarter of 2015 — the highest quarterly total ever.

• The Department of Homeland Security and other researchers have estimated that eight in 10 illegal immigrants are from Mexico and Latin America, so the increase in immigrants from these countries is an indication that illegal immigration has begun growing again.
