Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Rep. Cynthia M. Lummis held a bloggers’ call this afternoon. Here are a few notes:
Rep. Rodgers: “The government is spending at the rate of a billion dollars each hour.”
Rep. Lumis:
“This is the largest budget in history, and the largest spending bill in history. The budget will be borne by small business. Cap and trade will tax every person who turns on a light bulb – a tax to the tune of $600 billion and will be borne by the average American family. It’s a cap on the American dream.”
She’s outraged by the proposal that combat vets access their private insurance first. “These are unprecendented changes in the way America does business and they impose a huge burden.” The bills are not being discussed before they are voted on: “there is no transparency. To this day we’re learning about provisions in the stimulus bill.”

Ms Rodgers “The American Legion help shine a light yesterday.” Ms Lummis is sponsoring a House resolution. “The administration had not thought through the provisions on AIG.”

The Federal Reserve said today that it will deploy an additional $1.2 trillion to try to lower interest rates and stimulate the economy, an aggressive move aimed at containing the recession.
