John Hawkins of Right Wing News talks about CPAC, conservatism, and politics in today’s podcast at 11AM Eastern.
Must-read of the day: “The HomoCon Tipping Point: Why CPAC Was a Milestone Weekend for Gays”
My friend Bruce Carroll of Gay Patriot has a post at Big Journalism that must read, if it’s the only blog post you read all week,
The HomoCon Tipping Point: Why CPAC Was a Milestone Weekend for Gays
The conservative bloggers who were actually at CPAC and who actually witnessed the Sorba tirade went ballistic on him immediately. From Ace of Spades, to HotAir, to Michelle Malkin and across the entire center-right blogosphere, especially via Twitter, the reaction was one of complete and utter disdain – not for Sorba’s lack of etiquette, but for his message of intolerance.
Suddenly the mainstream media and liberal bloggers couldn’t hide the truth. The first video of Alexander McCobin was now on YouTube, going viral, and creating the contrast with how Sorba was booed off the CPAC stage. It was undeniable; facts truly are stubborn things. And this all happened at the speed of the internet in 2010.
The change in the reaction on the Left came when Keith Olbermann at MSNBC, in the midst of a rant on the “crazies” at CPAC, conceded that the conservatives turned on Sorba and stood up for GOProud. If Olbermann is defending CPAC, you know there’s a break in the Maginot Line.
Go read it all.
And of course, Gay Patriot‘s in you daily reads already, isn’t it?
Question: Does a Puerto Rican guy from Brooklyn sound like Chris Rock? VIDEO
Jason Mattera at CPAC last Thursday,
Kate Zernike, blogging in the NYT,
He then mocked what he described, with a Chris Rock voice, as “diversity,” including, he said, college classes on “cyber feminism” and “what it means to be a feminist new black man.”
Brooklyn born-and-raised Mattera didn’t take well to Zernike’s post, and wants her fired:
The New York Times Should Terminate Character Assassin Zernike
For the record, Zernike must not even know what it means to impersonate Chris Rock. I sound nothing like him. Nothing. Judge for yourself. In any event, she obviously has her own racial demons to wrestle with if she thinks, as she apparently does, that all minorities sound the same. As a Puerto Rican man, I find such characterizations absurd and offensive.
Jason, I assure you that when you don’t meet a liberal’s ideological requirements, their comeback is, “You don’t even look Puerto Rican!” – UPDATE – speaking of which…

What did we talk about during dinner?
A couple of people saw this picture yesterday,
and asked, “What did you all talk about during dinner?”
Joy fills you in on the coversation,
We had a great discussion about New Media, the winds of political change, and (over the second bottle of wine) the sartorial disaster that is the First Lady of the United States. (Here, I pointed out that I held off for months after last year’s inaugeration on that one, not wanting to diss the wife of our Commander-in-Chief. But the ghastly choices she makes eventually burst the dam of my reluctance, and last night I was the cattiest one by far.)
Speaking of the CIC, during a discussion of daily prayer it was pointed out that he should be on our prayer lists, for several reasons—but two in particular. (That is, because he is our Chief Executive, and because we don’t care much for the way he’s handling the job. A political adversary counts as an “enemy” for the purposes of prayer. So you know what to do.)
She also makes a connection between Vanderleun and free-market capitalism, which you must go read.

Unrelated to the subject, Gerard has honed his “Standard Apology for 21st Century Schmucks” for Tiger Woods. (Did we talk about Tiger Woods during dinner? For all I know we did, but after my third or fourth glass of wine…)
A brief roundup of CPAC friends
Baldilocks is enthusiastic about meeting Lt. Col. Allen West. Little Miss Attila posted this video,
Gay Patriot interviewed him after the speech, Alexander McCobin from Students For Liberty.
The Student Activist Who Spoke Up FOR GOProud At CPAC.
More on the controversy here,
The GOProud political agenda has to do with fiscal conservatism and national security. That’s what mainstream conservatives believe in: a freedom and liberty agenda.
Obi’s sister posted about Thursday’s dinner, along with Kate.
Read why this is the most important video Gay Patriot’s ever posted
It is former Ohio Rep. Bob McEwen “speaking at CPAC 2010 where he delivered an outstanding presentation on Basic Economics and why Free Market Principles are essential to maintaining prosperity and freedom in America. He does a truly outstanding job, and explains it in language anyone can understand.”
Val Prieto posted on CPAC day 2.
Stacy and Smitty of The Other McCain ponder the rigors of CPAC blogging:
Stacy gave Steve Eggleston some advice on CPAC, too.
I posted an album of CPAC10 photos at Facebook. Go check it out.
