Yet another oil industry corruption scandal

This time in Nigeria,

Inside the Bribery Scandal Sweeping Through the Oil Industry. Shell and Eni paid $1.3 billion for oil rights in Nigeria. Whether the money was mostly a bribe is at the heart of one of the industry’s most dramatic criminal cases.

As you may recall, Petrobras to pay $2.95 billion to settle U.S. corruption lawsuit earlier this year.

The Pemex-Odebrecht cases are still in the headlines.

And who could forget the UN’s oil-for-food?

It’s enough to make one suspect that government-owned and UN-connected agencies are ripe for the picking.

Four trillion euros, and counting

The academics who have promoted the global warming scam are only doing it for small potatoes. The big numbers are in the carbon trades and the investment funds. At Big Journalism,
Climategate, UK Edition: Following the Money, All €4 Trillion of It:
Al Gore, the first green billionaire,
The IPCC, and its controversial director Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, who

has been acting as a director or advisor to a score of companies, including Pegasus Capital Advisors, GlorOil, Toyota, and Deutsche Bank

And the Beeb,

the BBC, a prime proponents of warming theory, or AGW, has heavily invested its pension fund in the theory, and thus have had a major non-Scientific reason for their bias. As revealed this weekend in The Express:

The corporation is under investigation after being inundated with complaints that its editorial coverage of climate change is biased in favour of those who say it is a man-made phenomenon. The £8billion pension fund is likely to come under close scrutiny over its commitment to promote a low-carbon economy while struggling to reverse an estimated £2billion deficit. Concerns are growing that BBC journalists and their bosses regard disputed scientific theory that climate change is caused by mankind as “mainstream” while huge sums of employees’ money is invested in companies whose success depends on the theory being widely accepted. The BBC is the only media organisation in Britain whose pension fund is a member of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, which has more than 50 members across Europe.

The IIGCC is an interesting group. As their website explains:

The IIGCC is a forum for collaboration on climate change for European investors. The group’s objective is to catalyse greater investment in a low carbon economy by bringing investors together to use their collective influence with companies, policymakers and investors. The group currently has over 50 members, including some of the largest pension funds and asset managers in Europe, and represents assets of around €4 trillion.

Wait… I hate to be a skeptic, but did they just say… “Four Trillion Euros”?

They did.

The Chairman of IIGCC investment group is Peter Dunscombe, who also happens to be the BBC’s Head of Pensions Investment.

Just so you know on which side the globally warmed bread is being buttered.

Considering this is only the initial information coming out on the melting iceberg of the global warming scam, I expect there will be lots, lots more of this type of report.

However, even when I am by nature an optimist, I forecast that nothing will come from it. Witness the other UN scam, the Oil For Food scandal.

What happened to the UN after that?

I rest my case.

US removes uranium from Iraq

From Associated Press, that arm of the vast right wing conspiracy:
US removes uranium from Iraq.

Let’s pay attention to that: The United States military have removed

550 metric tons of “yellowcake” – the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment

which was stored at the nuclear facility in Tuwaitha, Iraq, some 12 miles south of Baghdad.

Again:

  • Saddam Hussein had a nuclear program
  • At the Tuwaitha nuclear complex just south of Baghdad
  • Which included 550 metric tons (over 1.2 million pounds) of “yellowcake”, or concentrated uranium
  • And multiple devices that could be used in a nuclear weapon

The AP does not say alleged nuclear program. It does not add “according to military experts.” It simply says “Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program.”

Other important points:
1. The yellowcake removed is the last mayor remnant of Saddam’s nuclear program. There was more.
2. The military had removed earlier this year four devices for controlled radiation exposure which “contain elements of high radioactivity that could potentially be used in a weapon”.
3. The yellowcake was sold to Cameco, which may have been involved in the Oil-For-Food scam, and is a company in which Soros Fund Management LLC owns a substantial portion.

It Must Suck Being Joe Wilson Today – Joe, you’ve been punk’d!

In other news, Iraqis lead final purge of Al-Qaeda, Islamism is discredited, and We’re winning this War on Terror.

The Carnival of Latin America and the Caribbean will be up in a couple of hours. Bear with me – with the rescue of the Colombian hostages, it’s going to be huge!

Special thanks to Hip Hop Republican and Larwyn.

Just what the world needs: "Venezuela seeks Latin American oil-for-food fund"

The Oil-For-Food scandal is the largest fraud ever perpetrated in the history of mankind.

Leave it to Hugo Chavez to ask for an encore:
Venezuela seeks Latin American oil-for-food fund

Venezuela called on fellow Latin American energy producing countries on Wednesday to set up a fund for food aid using windfall oil profits in an effort to give poor nations some relief from soaring prices.

Windfall oil profits that he is using to finance the FARC and others…

President Hugo Chavez will invite regional oil and gas producers Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador and Bolivia as well as Cuba to a summit in Caracas to set up the oil-for-food fund, Venezuela’s foreign minister said.

“We will devise a formula based on the price of oil and the level of production that would allow for the creation of a special oil-for-food fund, taking into consideration the means of each country,” said Nicolas Maduro, addressing a meeting of Latin American leaders on the food crisis in Managua.

Managua has its share of poor people, but Hugo’s got global plans:

The countries hope to stave off protests and political unrest now plaguing nations from Cameroon to Bangladesh.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s getting his hands in the banks, too:

The regional leaders gathered in Nicaragua agreed to work to get private banks in the region to direct at least 10 percent of their total lending to farmers.

Fortunately, at least when it came to that, the “Presidents and ministers from 11 countries — including Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Panama” gave the thought all the consideration that was due: they signed a non-binding agreement.

Expect Jimmy Carter to join in the effort.
