“Lots more patriots!”

Since Biden wants your patriotic wallet, the McCain campaign is poking fun at the absurd idea:

Ed points out that

The media pushback has always been disingenuous anyway. They point to Obama’s tax plan on income tax only, without mentioning the hikes on capital-gains rates and corporate taxes that Obama plans. They never mention that 70% of the country is in the investor class now and will run afoul of the new capital-gains tax rates, or that higher corporate taxes mean higher prices — and more companies relocating outside the US. Does Obama think that businesses just eat costs? Either prices go up or jobs get cut, the same as they do when Congress arbitrarily raises labor costs by increasing the minimum wage.

Not that Biden bothers with any such facts. Yesterday he was saying that paying taxes is a religous experience to a Catholic.

Here in NJ we must be in full spiritual ecstasy by now, if one’s to believe Joe.

I wouldn’t be unkind enough to say that

I’m really beginning to believe that Joe Biden got his Catholic instruction from Father Guido Sarducci and Sister Mary Elephant

because I wouldn’t want to offend Father Guido or Sister Mary for all the enjoyment they have brought me. But I do hope Biden keeps making these asinine statements for the rest of the campaign.

Biden wants your patriotic wallet

Biden:

“We want to take money

That’s my money and yours, my dear readers

and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” Biden said. Of those who would pay more, he said: “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.”

Heeere’s Joey!

Look, it is asinine stuff like this for which I absolutely have no patience. This politician who has more hair plugs than brains and who has more or less produced absolutely nothing in his life for nobody, who has donated 1/3 of 1% of his 300K per year taxpayer-provided salary to charity, and has lived off of taxes generated by private businesses and middle-class workers for his entire career is proposing raising taxes on the top earners in the country (who already pay more than their fair share) during the worst financial crisis in decades (h/t Sweetness & Light). Click on the graphic to read the related article:

And by the way, NJ residents are so patriotic they are bursting in tax increases to the point that a net 75,000 NJ residents have moved out of the state – escaping the highest State/Local Tax Burden in the nation.

Is Biden nuts, or just incompetent?

4 Ways to Turn a Recession Into a Depression: Item #2:

2) Raise taxes. Another classic. The Revenue Act of 1932 was at the time the largest peacetime tax increase in American history. The top rate, for instance, went from 25 percent to 63 percent. Economists agree this is one of the dumbest things Herbert Hoover did. Alas, it is a mistake we might be getting ready to repeat.

Biden can’t wait.

So which is it: poor Joe Biden, struggling along at $320,000 per year in income, and only able to afford about $370 annually in charitable donations? Or Joe Biden: rich America-hater?

Taheri insists that Obama wanted a delay on troops’ return

Following up on the most serious allegation of the presidential campaign to date< Amir Taheri insists that OBAMA OBJECTS
BUT THE EVIDENCE SAYS I’M RIGHT

In other words, Obama wanted a delay on the Status of Forces Agreement, not on the Strategic Framework Agreement – as his rebuttal now claims.

The NBC report continues: “Asked by NBC’s Lee Cowan if a timetable for the Status of Forces Agreement was discussed, Obama said, ‘Well he, the foreign minister, had presented a letter requesting an extension of the UN resolution until the end of this year. So that’ s a six-month extension.'”

That Obama was aware that the two accords couldn’ t be separated is clear in his words to NBC

Just One Minute goes back and looks at the July 3 reports, while Ed looks at the Obama response, and Taheri’s right:

Which is exactly what Taheri wrote. Barack Obama went to Iraq and interfered with the diplomatic efforts of the elected United States government, in a war zone no less, by telling the Iraqis to stop negotiating with the President. How exactly does that make Taheri’s column untruthful?

It wasn’t enough for Obama to fail at forcing the nation into a defeat in Iraq when he opposed the surge. Now he has interfered with our efforts to stabilize Iraq and provide for its security after the surge succeeded in keeping Iraq from falling into a failed state. And when he got caught working for failure and defeat, he tried making it into a smear against John McCain.

But the more important and outrageous issue at hand is that he tried to undercut negotiations between a sitting US president and a foreign government.

Rest assured, the media is so in the tank with Obama, they won’t even notice.

More, lots more at The Anchoress.

Biden on abortion: All for it, even when “life begins at conception”

Seeing how Palin is rising while she clearly believes in having a child with Down’s syndrome, Biden – who claims to be a practicing Catholic – comes to the fore with a conundrum:

Gateway Pundit links to Biden’s abortion record:

Allow women to choose, but no federal funding. (Jul 2007)
No public funding for abortion; it imposes a view. (Apr 2007)
Supports partial-birth abortion ban, but not undoing Roe. (Apr 2007)
Accepts Catholic church view that life begins at conception. (Apr 2007)
Nominees should agree on constitutional right to privacy. (Apr 2007)
Voted NO on defining unborn child as eligible for SCHIP. (Mar 2008)
Voted NO on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion. (Mar 2008)
Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)
Voted NO on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. (Jul 2006)
Voted YES on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (Mar 2005)
Voted NO on criminal penalty for harming unborn fetus during other crime. (Mar 2004)
Voted NO on maintaining ban on Military Base Abortions. (Jun 2000)
Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions. (Oct 1999)
Voted NO on banning human cloning. (Feb 1998)
Rated 36% by NARAL, indicating a mixed voting record on abortion. (Dec 2003)
Expand embryonic stem cell research. (Jun 2004)
Rated 0% by the NRLC, indicating a pro-choice stance. (Dec 2006)
Ensure access to and funding for contraception. (Feb 2007)

Now As a Matter of Faith, Biden Says Life Begins at Conception

Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic nominee for vice president, departed Sunday from party doctrine on abortion rights, declaring that as a Catholic, he believes life begins at conception.

Did the interviewer follow up that with the question, “do you believe in infanticide, then?”

Look, if he supports abortion, that’s his decision. But you’re not a practicing Catholic if you do. Go ask the Archbishop.

Ed finds Biden’s position A bit monstruous.

3AM text message call: Obama picks Biden

The announcement came at 3AM, so, was it meant to be a slap in the face for Hillary? Or to the newspapers, who missed their deadlines? Or to the Obama supporters, who weren’t the first to know?

Via Maria, Obama Chooses Biden as Running Mate.

Change? The candidate of change went with the status quo, picking a guy’s who’s been in office for 35 years.

Is choosing a guy who was defeated in the primaries, and placing the experience at the bottom of the ticket good ideas? We’ll see.

So what’s going on? Did Hillary Clinton’s people surreptitiously shill for Biden?

Siggy’s on plagiarist alert and Dan says, So, It’s The O And Joe Show? That Oughta Be Good For A Laugh! You guys better watch out for those Biden rosary beads, guys. (Glenn‘s probably safe, though.)

Mmmmm, donuts!

Will the

change to

Or perhaps,

?

It gets better
Guess Who’s Opening The DNC?

UPDATE
Biden’s famous quotations.
Robert’s amused.
The jokes will write themselves.
I guess the hope is that Obama will absorb his running mate’s foreign policy experience through a process of ballot osmosis, from the guy who called him “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
