Book review: Bamboozled: How Americans are being Exploited by the Lies of the Liberal Agenda

Angela McGlowan will be my Blog Talk Radio guest next Monday, April 23. I first met Angela at CPAC last month, when we talked about her new book, Bamboozled: How Americans are being Exploited by the Lies of the Liberal Agenda

Let me start by saying, this is a must-read book.

Ms McGlowen, who is Fox News political analyst, Republican Strategist, and President of Political Strategies and Insights, states that

three constituencies alone hold the power to control the political playing field in the 2008 campaign – and the political future of this country for decades to come.

These critical groups are women, Latinos, and blacks.

The book is focused on how the Democrat party has manipulated historical facts, the media, and the public discourse in order to capture these three constituencies.

Angela McGlowan comes from a family which was focused on education: her parents insisted that she and her siblings go to college. Both parents insisted that their children not only perform well academically, but also that they acquire the social and ethical skills necessary to succeed in life. It is because of her experience that her impassioned plea for school choice, better curricula, rigurous academic standards, and reinforcing excellence in the home (through decorum, the use of gramatically correct English, eye contact, and public etiquette), is so convincing.

This emphasis on improving public education, by the way, is also the subject of Herman Badillo’s recent book, One Nation, One Standard: An Ex-Liberal on How Hispanics Can Succeed Just Like Other Immigrant Groups, which I highly recommend.

Bamboozled is relentless in exposing much of the fables of the Left. Her chapters on the history of the Klu Klux Klan, and on the Civil Rights shell game are an indictment of the politics of the Democrat party. Her book is well researched and annotated, and you can check her accurate footnotes.

I read with particular attention the Latins In Limbo chapter. I fully agree with her conclusions, and visitors to this blog who have also listened to my podcast this week know that I believe that the only way for immigrants to succeed in our society is to completely immerse themselves in the culture and the language, and to fully integrate themselves as Americans. Ms McGlowan knows that by doing so, Hispanics will avoid the exploitation agenda:

the exploitation agenda’s future success hinges on its ability to create a grievance culture of victimhood and dependency.

I urge everyone to read this excellent book.
