John Batchelor interviewed Mary O’Grady on Puerto Rico’s mismanagement in the 10 weeks after Hurricane Maria,
I posted last week, Puerto Rico Doesn’t Want Reform.
The governor refuses to implement furloughs and pension cuts mandated by the Promesa (Puerto Rico Oversight Management and Economic Stability Act) board while asking for $94 billion in aid from Washington for reconstruction costs.
Against the Congressional oversight board’s recommendation, Puerto Rico paid its government employees Christmas bonuses, to the tune of $100 million, because, “they were included in the budget approved last summer,” before Hurricanes Irma and Maria struck.
As I’ve said in the past, “forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown” .
The Batchelor/O’Grady video was excellent!
What better way to push your people up to Florida…in order to FLIP that State BLUE?
Hey, if a dummy like ME can figure this out, don’t tell me that the Soros groups aren’t DOING it!
The pro-statehood governor was a DNC delegate for Hillary in 2008, & for Obama in 2012. Either way, it’s a win-win for him – statehood, or FL blue.
If I was in charge of turning around PR I’d bring in someone like Jon Taffer of the TV show Bar Rescue. He turns around failing bars/restaurants. PR is not in him area of expertise but he would bring in experts in their field. This sure beats Bernie’s idea of throwing $161 billion at the problem. See how Jon Taffer operates.

Yes, the Bar Rescue guy and Anthony Melchiorri, the Hotel Impossible guy, both!

Soon you’ll almost be able to hear the dulcet tones of “Dandy Don” Meredith of Monday Night Football fame sing “Turn out the lights, the party’s over…”
Back when Howard Cosell was the go to guy… Well it is Monday Night 🙂
The general mistake peeps make in analyzing PR is forgetting that they are basically a Latin American country, no different than any other in Central or South America, with two exceptions—they have an ATM card to the U.S. treasury that the other countries don’t have and they can fly across the border at will. Other than those two main differences they have been run by caudillos, posing as Dems currently, since Spanish times. Thought of in these terms everything in PR makes perfect sense.
You’re right, Patrick, and it’ll remain so
