The incomparable Renee! I can hardly wait for her live-streamed Marschallin later this year.
She and DH are among the most memorable operatic duos of all time.
But I must add, she is also the queen of why did she wear THAT? A notable illustration of which is the gown she is wearing in the St. Petersburg concert. It is a testimony to her singing and acting that one does not spend the entire time of her performance wondering 1) Just how much fixative was necessary to keep her in the top of that gown? 2) How much does the boning digging into the top of her right breast hurt? 3) How many yards are in that creation on her left arm? 4) Who thought that a dark border at the bottom of the gown was a plus?
But, all is forgiven. I love to hear her singing Leonora, a part she never did in an actual opera. I understand that Leonora is too heavy for straight lyrics, but I love the effect, and, particularly the combination of RF’s lyricism with DH’s Russian baritone.

Yes, I love her singing but that gown was at a risk of spillover, while looking painful!
