Vienna Philharmonic, of course, 2014 edition,
Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the 2017 concert, which does not exactly thrill me, as he cancelled prior commitments to conduct at Hugo Chávez’s funeral.
American and Latin American Politics, Society, and Culture
1. Thanks for the warning about a. Dudamel’s leftist sympathies, and b. his conducting at the funeral of Hugo Chávez–we can now devote the time that we would have spent on the Vienna Philharmonic led by a leftist to something more profitable, intellectually if not emotionally and morally.
2. Has anyone heard if Dudamel also plans to conduct at the funeral of Nicolás Maduro? It should be taking place any day now.
Maduro will be around for as long as the Cartel del Sol finds it convenient.
Ah Vienna, where too much is not enough and decadence seems fresh. I love, love, love that city. Thank you, Fausta.
Judith, I don’t about Vienna being a place where too much is not enough, or decadence seems fresh–maybe I should find out– but certainly, “wo ich glücklich und selig bin, ist Wien, ist Wien, mein Wein”!!! I just looked for the Marlene Dietrich version of “Wien, Wien, nur du allein,” or sometimes just “Du, nur du allein,” but couldn’t find it, but happily found many other great versions, newer as well as older, and listened to them all–thanks for reminding me.
n.b.: My granddaughter and I will be performing in the 2030 waltz competition in Vienna and she is looking forward to hearing this incredible piece live.
a.n.b.: Has anyone heard if some lib/lefty/”progressive”/Democrat fool is writing something like “Washington DC, Washington DC, only you alone…”? Or some RINO, if not a lib/lefty/”progressive”/Democrat buffoon?
…of course, that should be “mein Wien,” and maybe also “mein wein” somewhere else in the song…
Being good enough to enter a waltz competition in Vienna. I am impressed!
