LAHT reports,
Santos submitted the document to the Security Council’s president in the presence of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who confirmed that he would travel to the northern Colombian city of Cartagena next week for the signing of the peace agreement.
It’ll be interesting to see who actually gets to sign the agreement; the document I read last month (which is titled “final agreement”) did not show President Santos or Timoleón Jiménez a.k.a. Timochenko (who will remain as FARC leader) as signatories.
FARC will never honor its side of the bargain and there will be further bloodshed from within Colombia sooner or later when they don’t get their way politically. They will incite the masses and try to create street mobs just like the Chavistas did. Left wing strategy these days is to use democracy to gain power, and then to dismantle it systematically so they can stay in power forever.
The Colombians can see what an idiotic communist mess is just over their borders, but they have been willing to risk almost certain internal subversion in exchange for a shaky, doubtful peace at the Venezuelan border.
Wow! The U.N. Security Council! That will put the fear of God in all potential villains! Bibi was right on. The U.N. is a farce, as is this agreement.
