Wow! I guess production numbers like this is why the Met exists.
Yes – I have been to other Met operas, but this particular one takes the cake, icing and all. Just watching the wall slide down while the spear holders are standing on it gave me goosebumps.
I had known the tune since childhood, courtesy of an Opera Without Words album. I have seen some videos of it on YouTube, but this is the first time I have seen it with words I can understand, courtesy of the dubbed-in Spanish.
What a show- worthy of Cecil B. DeMille, and of Joe Green [Guiseppe Verdi].
