Cuba: Victory lap, and more gimme gimme

“After 56 years in which the Cuban people put up a heroic and selfless resistance, diplomatic relations have been re-established between Cuba and the United States of America,” the military dictator said.

Normalization of relations “will only be achieved with the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba; the return to our country of the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo naval base; the cessation of radio and TV broadcasts and of subversive and destabilizing programs against the island; and when our people are compensated for the human and economic damages they still endure,” he said.

  1. Thanks. I did not know about Raul’s son-in-law. I had read that Raul’s son, Alejandro, was being groomed to be the next president.

    Since Obama was born in 1961 he might not know Cuban history. Before his time. First, the US fought Spain and gave Cuba her independence. Second,the US did not take Guantanamo. It was leased. Third, the US embargo was placed because Fidel expropriated American property without paying for it. Fidel trying to force Exxon to refine and process a cargo of Russian crude oil was the incident that started it.

    Cuba never plays her bills. Are there any American companies willing to sell on credit? If there are I’ll short their stock.

    But Obama is doing his thing with his phone and pen. Should the America public allow him to give Guantanamo back he might as well remove the 5th Fleet from the Persian Gulf and remove the USFK from South Korea. We will get to see Forth of July before the 4th gets here.
