Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega was extradited on Monday afternoon to France where he has been convicted on money laundering charges, according to two U.S. law enforcement officials.
He was put on board an Air France flight in Miami this afternoon and was en route to Paris, one official said, declining further identification.
Former drug kingpin-tinpot dictators sometimes get their comeuppance,
He was convicted in Miami of drug trafficking, racketeering and conspiracy in 1992. He also was convicted in absentia in France of laundering cocaine profits through French banks and using the money to buy three luxury apartments. Noriega can seek a new trial in France if extradited.
Will keep an eye on this.
