Gibbs Tells a Female White House Correspondent to ‘Calm Down’
Ryan had a heated back-and-forth with Gibbs over whether White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers overstepped her bounds in the “Gate-Crash-gate” incident and was pressing Gibbs on the subject through repeated questions.
“Some might have called her the belle of the ball, overshadowing the first lady,” Ryan said.
Gibbs said he hadn’t heard that criticism before.
Ryan continued in her questioning, asking whether Rogers had invited herself to the first state dinner.
Gibbs shrugged it off, then told Ryan to calm down and take a deep breath.
“This happens with my son. He does the same thing,” Gibbs said, referring to his young child. It drew ooohs from the press corps.
“Don’t play with me,” Ryan said.
Baldilocks puts it all in perspective:
Did you hear that? It was digusting!
Someone actually reproduced with Robert Gibbs!
As for social secretary Desirée Rogers, “she lets people in the White House all the time” while borrowing an outfit right out of The Mummy: Boris Karloff would have been proud.
NEVER tell a woman to calm down.
sometimes it’s the “off the cuff” remarks that are truly telling.
I’d have laughed if the next journalist had simply asked the same question (again..). actually, that’s one of the reasons I’m not a journalist.
I have been a corporate fund raiser for many years.
We have always had “party crashers” ejected from our events. When caught, they maintain their innocence, and are in complete denial of their crime of, “defrauding an innkeeper”.
The ‘Whitehouse Case’ is more sensitive in the fact that the President actually could be dead, and possibly the Vice-President, and many others as well. THAT”S the way it should be treated, because they have proven that that’s how easy it would be to assassinate the American president. I’m sure he is the most guarded president in American history, and then his ‘security’
is breached by a pair of egomaniacal bimbos, all for the sake of stupid, American “reality shows”.
They should be made an example of, and treated just like any potential assassins.
The social secretary should be fired, or treated like an accomplice. Her job is to coordinate, and oversee the event, NOT be part of it. If she ‘sits’ at all, it is at a STAFF table. She is there in a WORKING capacity, only !
I have heard that excuse “oh, my cell phone went dead” story so many, many times. Another popular ‘trick of the trade’ is, when you leave your return phone number, you deliberately make one of the digits a wrong number, so they can’t get back to you, to tell you of your denied entry. It gives them an arguing point to blame the secretary for copying it wrong. While ‘shuckin & jivin’, they then find any other possible way to sneak in. . . . . . .
What an embarasment !
> When you leave your return phone number, you deliberately make one of the digits a wrong number
Harder to do these days, with your phone remembering the number for you…
Not to suggest the rest of your comments aren’t “spot on”.
