Marines SEALS to be charged for capturing top terrorist

Correction: SEALS are not Marines.
My apologies for my ignorance

Via Michael Goldfarb, you would think the US is monitoring a kindergarten playground instead of fighting a war:
Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Abed claims he was punched, and now the Marines SEALS face assault charges? They should be given a medal for not doing to the terrorist what the terrorist did in Fallujah: burning, mutilating, and hanging four Americans:

The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

Here’s a photo, after the fold,

Jawa wants to know if the Daily Kos is now in charge of the military.
Allahpundit speculates on the outcome.
Blackfive puts it best,

Unless this guy shows up with multiple compound fractures caused by the repeated use of a chunk of rebar long after he was in custody in the rear, I will go on record as saying I don’t give a f**k.

The charges brought against the Marines SEALS represent yet another slap on the face for the brave men and women in the military.

UPDATE
Blackfive takes down Allahpundit.

I think these Navy Seals are National HEROES!!! So what if they punched him in the mouth, they SHOULD have killed him! They MOST DEFINITELY SHOULD GET THE “MEDAL OF HONOR FOR THIS!!!

I am amazed we have any soldier still in the fight…when will this madness stop. The only problem with rounding up an dputting all of thes islamist terrorists in camps is that they are already imbedded allover theUSA and it would turn into war on our soil.

    SEALS aren’t Marines.

Fausta, dear, please change your headline. While the Marines would like to claim the SEALs as a member organization, the Navy would probably throw a hissy fit about it.

SEALS are not Marines. SEALS are Navy personnel, and Special Operations Forces. Probably you insulted the Marines and the Navy with one shot.

These special Services personnel are Americans! Dickering over the branch of the Department of the Navy they belong to is fruitless. Praise God for them! My prayers for them and the return of our country to the principles of common sense and personal responsibility! This is our highest goal!

Well, before raising the SEALS up to demi-gods it might be instructive to remember that since Vietnam one of the charges of the SEALS is to actively seek out and assassinate opposing leaders. Soldiering in the broad sense is still a dirty nasty business whose goal is still to kill the enemy within the bounds of both the UMCJ and the treaty obligations of the US.

These men could have accepted captain’s punishment, usually in these type of cases, a demotion, loss of pay and maybe if egregious enough a letter in their service jacket. The fact that one of them is testifying indicates that the charges might be much more serious and that they also might have gotten very bad advice in asking for an open court martial.

I also forgot to mention that aliens in the country legally can join the Navy or Coast Guard and then try out for SEALS. So there is a chance that indeed they are not all Americans.

I wonder if these Navy Seal heros will get the same rights to a civilian court as the killers in gitmo. Please someone tell me America is still our America.

AS MARSENKO SAID (AND WAS NEVER SEEN ON TV AGAIN) “I WOULD’NT BRING ANYONE OUT”HE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. THE ONLY REASON TO BRING THEM OUT IS TO GET INFO.THEN TAKE THEM FOR A HELICOPTER RIDE.
