VIDEO: Venezuelan farm stolen by Chavez

A group of red shirt-wearing Chavista thugs show up at a farm and seize the farm in the name of the government, under the pretext that the 103 hectare farm is “idle land” and that the law allows them to take it over for “food production.”

The farmer protests politely, explaining that he’s been raising cattle on his farm for 23 years. He is rebuffed by another guy, who says, “this is not going to be a debate; this is a public act approved by the Venezuelan people. I’m governor and I’m here to ensure public order. There won’t be a debate, I ask you to listen to the document, after which the public will take charge of the land.”

When the farmer’s wife protests, he tells her to discuss it in court.

Chavez controls the judiciary.

The farmer is told to sign the form, and then to gather the animals so they can be accounted for.

When another one of the people who lived at the farm tries to ask a question, the man who identified himself as the governor insists that “this is not a debate, this is not a meeting, and if there’s any disruption, the public force is here,” pointing to the crowd in red shirts.

Communism, in its simplest form.

Not too different than the Kelo decision from our own SCOTUS. The Constitution means nothing to the elites in Washington. The only difference between the two countries is that we’re much better armed as a citizenry.

It’s odd that many of the Chavistas point to Hernando de Soto’s The Other Path as justifying the taking of land but as the farmer points out his land is not fallow or underutilized and he has clear title. Plus in de Soto’s seminal work the State stepped in and, much like the regularizing of the land booms in the frontier US, gave title to the people who met the standards and essentially created a small landowning class where there had been none before. A small independent landowning class which is an anathema to forward thinkers everywhere.

Typical of socialists the world over they start with a seed of an idea and then can’t quite bring themselves to let it grow without holding on to the title and controlling who gets the land. Not as a result of effort but of knowing the right person.

The thugs in red shirts look like Obama’s ACORN & SEIU thugs. This what is looking at us kids… If we let Obama tyranny take over.

This is what Mugabe did. The thieves didn’t want to farm the land… they wanted it as collateral for loans that they intended to never repay. Now most of Rhodesia’s land is fallow an overgrown with weeds, and they have to import food.

There are so many laws here that the FedGov can use to do the same thing… EPA, ESA, Wetlands, Kelo, property tax, FTC/FDA.

    Hello USSA.

    This isn’t America’s future.
    This is America’s present state.
Look at your next paycheck stub!
The government already is confiscating a big portion of your wealth every payday.
Tax freedom day moves every year further away from January 1.
Now count all of the other taxes you pay. Now consider that every thing you buy is higher because the people that made, transported and sold that product have high taxes to pay also.
Many of us could have bought three farms with the excess taxes that have been taken from us over our lifetimes.

George Soros, Van Jones, Wade Rathke, William Ayers, Oliver Stone, Sean Penn, Nancy Pelosi, SEIU, ACORN, Daily Kos, on and on.

This is the Obama groupies and puppet master(Soros).

Cut down freedom in Honduras and support Communist like the cocoa leaf chewing mindless dimwit Chavez.

Commie scum infiltration everywhere. The Cold War never ended. The Walls came down and we laid down our arms, mentally and physically.

Wait a minute! Did I see any guns? Just how the hell do you propose to pull off crap like this in the USA? If this government attempts something even remotely like this with the present political climate, there will be a cleansing of the government by the people with the military on the side of the people. Mark my words.

How much dyawanna bet that land is officially being operated as fallow (recharging for the next planting) can be confiscated in this manner.

And Vic is right on Mugabe.. of course Chavez is a BFF of Mugabe.. he’s read his manual and think he can game it to a political advantage. Like the Mugabe’s ZanuPF said of the MDC, there are too many people in certain parts of the country.

People don’t learn, you give power to someone you’re not getting it back. American’s would never sit by and let someone take their farm, we’d have every state try to break out of the union before we let big government talk us into taking our land.
