I have confirmed from a very reliable source it’s very likely that ousted president Mel Zelaya will be going to Spain.
Unless Zelaya changes his mind, that is.
Mind you, this is STILL in the “strong rumors” stage, even when Gateway Pundit was posting on it three hours ago.
We continue to wait for an official announcement from the governments of Honduras and Spain, and the US State Department.
However, considering Zelaya’s erratic behavior, my bet is that there won’t be a formal announcement until Zelaya himself is about to land in Spain.
Zelaya turned out to be all hat and no cattle, it seems.
But it would be best we hold our breath until he sets foot in Madrid.
Thanks for posting, God willing it is true, interesting how Rodriguez Zapatero was in DC the last couple of days.
Do you think he can take the perfidious Hugo Llorens with him???
GOOD!!!!…THE BEST NEWS I’VE HEARD SO FAR…I HOPE HE NEVER COMES BACK….THEY CAN HAVE HIM AND HIS FAMILY AS WELL AS HIS FOLLOWERS!!!…GOD HAS ANSWERED OUR PRAYERS!!!…
Don’t celebrate yet, Iris. So far it’s still on a “confirmed rumor” stage. Once there’s an official announcement you can break out the champagne.
If true, my prayers have been answered. My apologies to the Honduran people for the asshats in the US Gov.
I love hearing all the rumours that the coup mongers are putting out! LOVE IT!
Come to think of it, it’ll be more prudent to break out the champagne once he lands in Spain.
We’re a little ray of sunshine in your vacuous life, aren’t we, Augustina! And, btw, in Spanish your name is spelled Agustina.
“Augustina” reminds me of those Sandalistas back in the 1980s who had a twenty-word vocabulary in Spanish, counting “tacos” and “salsa,” who made sure to say “Neeeecarrragua.”
It ain’t over until it’s over.As far as we know, Zelaya is still in the Brazilian embassy, claiming to be El Presidente. Regarding Zelaya’s going to Juan Domingo’s main place of exile, we hold our breath. When and if it is confirmed, I have some Torrontes wine from Salta for opening.
He still is at the embassy, Gringo.
“Neeeecarrragua!” LOL
How is he going to get out of Honduras without being arrested? Or, have they worked out a deal where he gets a 100ft head start before they give chase? I REALLY want him to go to trial and then jail for robbing the country like he did. The country needs a little justice, my neighbor here in Honduras is a supporter of his and she makes her living from a “fake” job that she will lose when they change parties here. Of course, someone from the blue party gets the “fake” job if they win, so, the only losers are the people of Honduras…

A lot can happen over the open Atlantic, I’m just saying.
Hope it´s true. It will be another reason to celebrate.
Augustina may be on to something. Honduras can go into a sideline business of selling coups. Then they will truly be “coup mongers.”
If Honduras goes “into a sideline business of selling coups” it is hoped that their first customers will be Venezuela,Cuba, and Bolivia (with perhaps Neeeeecaaauuuraaawwwwgua as the followup.)
What happens to the guy holding Zelaya’s hat?
From Bloomberg @ 10:23 EDT
I found the quote from John Biehl interesting. Makes me think that the ultimate agreement will be that Zelaya will be reinstated for the five minutes it takes for the incoming President to take the sash from the outgoing President.
““Augustina” reminds me of those Sandalistas back in the 1980s who had a twenty-word vocabulary in Spanish, counting “tacos” and “salsa,” who made sure to say “Neeeecarrragua.””
The same people who then pronounce the capital of South Dakota as pee-AIR. Hell, I think even Daschle started pronouncing it wrong as he lingered inside beltway.
“What happens to the guy holding Zelaya’s hat?”
He goes back to his job as the Brazilian ambassador to Honduras.
Jeez, he gets a promotion?
Fausta-I have been reading El Pais, the major Spanish newspaper, for several days now in hopes that the Spanish may have more information. Unfortunately not only do they not have anything to add but they are not even mentioning the possibility of exile. The absence of this possibility doesn’t mean there aren’t talks but considering the loose lips involved on both sides highly unlikely.
The last serious note was from 10/15 when El Pais obliquely critized Meza for announcing that the two sides were close to an agreement and had put most of it in writing. Not so!
