There are a few things that are very important to mention here.
The lawsuit is brought on behave of the 30,000 inhabitants of the Ecuadorian rainforest that have lived with Chevron’s deliberate dumping of 18 billion gallons of toxic waste water and 14 million gallons of Crude. These practices have brought cancer, miscarriages, and death to these communities.

Secondly, the above video is a paid for advertisement from Chevron. They produced this piece in response to the the overwhelming media coverage that was coming out with the truth in Ecuador.
    Particularly this 60 minutes piece

Regarding your podcast Kent Robertson again turned to Chevron’s tired (and erroneous) talking points. I’ll point you here to adress one of his favorites regarding petroecuador.

I encourage you to continue your own independent research on this case and the affected communities before regurgitating talking points from a desperate corporation that realizes they’ve been caught.

Nick, Chevron never was in the country.

In merely name, yes, I suppose you can argue semantics. I’m more concerned about accountability. When Chevron bought Texaco in 2001 they knowingly assumed legal responsibility as their own in all crimes and court battles.
So technically Chevron (or ChevronTexico) was very much in Ecuador.
In fact Chevron bought Texaco with the full knowledge of this case. Which really puts into the question the decisions of Chevron’s CEO David O’Reilly.

Nick…..it is true what you say and it is obvious that you are an intelligent/educated lad.
However it is time to leave it alone, let the conditions under which “Karl Marx” wrote arise (again) in both the industrialized and developing nations. Viva Revolucion!!! Die Likne are winning votes in Germany too. Let us expose these oligarchies for what they are “WE” can sort this out mate. Correa might want to lose this case????

sorry….should read “Die Linke” and that’s German for “The Left”….I’ve experienced how anally retentive you right wingers can be. Still for a bunch of East German communists they do well?????

Die Linke controls no states or landers in Germany and still polls barely above 12% from that part of the country that most Europeans consider backward. They gained one seat in the current European Parliament for a total of 8 while the CDU/CSU gained 8 seats and has 4 times as many seats. That revolution is probably just as likely as boxer ever posting his claim of nuclear armed bombers circling Ipanema.
