Via EU Referendum, Jennifer Rubin speculates,
Had Obama disclosed during the campaign that “broken china” included the Israel-U.S. relationship, one wonders if he would have garnered much support from voters who think the U.S.-Israeli relationship is so precious and valuable that it shouldn’t be discarded in a macho display by a neophyte president who has no game-plan for dealing with real threats to American security. (No, not ad-ons to East Jerusalem settlements, but Russia, North Korea and Iran.)
The thing is, Obama is being tough on Israel, but only because he can’t be tough on Israel’s enemies.
Obama’s Commandments for Israel
I. Thou shall allow no settlements to exist.
II. Thou shall not disparage any pronouncements The Won hath made for Israel, for surely He doth mean Israel no harm. Seriously, he doesn’t.

As EU Referendum points out,
President Obama might like to remember that bullying one’s friends because they are more likely to give in is not always a successful policy. He will remember but it will be too late.
That will also be the case with Latin America, too.
It is interesting to note that a similar situation, and maybe more advanced may be shaping up in Korea. This weekend’s WSJ includes an interview with President Lee. He seems to have a hard nosed view of dealing with a nearby tyrant and may not be solicitous of Obama’s views. Also, with S. Korean capacity and population, he may not be as malleable as smaller nations.
