Wednesday May 13, Padre Alberto en Aquí y Ahora
Monday May 11, For the video of the full CBS Early Show interview, please go to this post.
Young and gorgeous Padre Alberto has been a TV personality for quite a while on Spanish-language Telemundo cable TV, but now he got caught with his hand in the
cookie jar swimsuit of a girl at the beach. Even the New York Times and Time have the story.
The photos were originally published on Mexican TVNotas mag, and now they are all over the place.
El Nuevo Herald has Padre Alberto on the front page today. Their article says that Padre Alberto did not deny the authenticity of the photos and accepted responsibility for his actions. He’s been suspended.
Padre Alberto issued a public apology
STATEMENT FROM FATHER ALBERT CUTIÉ
Before God – full of love and mercy – I ask for the forgiveness of those who may be hurt or saddened by my actions. Since I entered the seminary at the age of 18, the priesthood has brought me great joy. The commitment that I made to serve God will remain intact. I am grateful for the love and support I have received today from so many in our community, especially my parishioners and the supporters of the radio stations who have demonstrated great compassion and understanding toward me as a human being. I ask for your continued prayers and support.

Personally, I wish the Catholic church would allow nice young good looking guys like Padre Alberto to marry and remain as priests. When I lived in Puerto Rico, the parish my parents attended had a succession of several young and very handsome priests who all ended up resigning and getting married. The parish lost from their resignations.
Padre Alberto has consistently carried on radio, TV and other media a message of faith, hope, and optimism for years. He’s always come across as a decent guy, and I say this with no irony.
But when it comes to Padre Alberto, for now, as my mom said, “well, at least we know he’s not gay,” a sentiment echoed by a lot of his South Beach parishoners, who continue to support him. There’s a rally scheduled for today at 9AM in front of his parish, St. Francis de Sales church, 621 Alton Rd, Miami Beach.
I’ll be talking about the story in this morning’s podcast at 11AM Eastern. The call-in number is 646 652-2639 (and I hope the switchboard works this time!)
