‘Fantasy Island’ star Ricardo Montalban dies at 88
A Los Angeles city councilman says Ricardo Montalban has died. He was 88. The Mexican-born actor, who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV’s “Fantasy Island,” died at his home in Los Angeles, City Council President Eric Garcetti said Wednesday.
Aside from Fantasy Island,
and the Chrysler Cordoba with soft Corynthian leather and a cargo of innuendo,
He was in all sorts of movies,
Dancing (no, that is not Cid Charisse, may be Esther Williams but not Cid Charisse)
at one of the planets of the Apes,
and getting on Kirk’s nerves,
Adiós, Ricardo Montalbán.
Esther Williams may have been graceful in the water but the dancer is indeed Cyd Charisse from The Mark of the Renegade. I remember Ricardo Montalban mostly from the very first film I ever saw him in, Battleground. He played a baseball playing Californio, Cpl. Roderigues, and owing to his not star status dies on screen about halfway through the film.
He’ll be missed!
Well, I’ll be!
