First it was Israel‘s fault that Eric Holder pushed through the Marc Rich pardon.
“The pardon of Marc Rich was a corrupt act,” Freeh said, but was not Holder’s responsibility. Freeh asserted that President Bill Clinton’s White House staff kept the FBI and Justice Department “in the dark” and “actively conspired” to ensure that nobody knew what pardons were being considered shortly before Clinton left office.
“The [Clinton] White House went to extraordinary lengths to deceive the attorney general, myself, the Department of Justice and everyone about who was on the secret pardon list. … I don’t think it’s fair to put that blame totally on Eric Holder,” Freeh said. “He takes responsibility, and he will never make that mistake again.”
Which means the pardon was the responsibility of the upcoming Secretary of State’s husband, just as the pardon of the FALN macheteros terrorists.
Accountability? Ah, accountability… what a quaint concept.
Where are the Republicans on this? Doing the wrong thing.
Eric Holder illustrates the dangers of ambition married to weak character. His subservience to the interests of Bill Clinton in approving the corrupt pardon of Marc Rich and the indefensible pardons of the FALN terrorists was a disgrace. His role in these pardons should disqualify him for higher office.
