Biden’s big lie, and his 13 14 21 22 other lies

UPDATE
Scroll down for lies #15, #16-22, #23

Biden’s big lie:

Ace posted Biden’s 14 lies, of which the one above is #2:

JOE BIDEN’S 14 LIES TONIGHT

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false.

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Phyllis posted on Palin as Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington, but I see it more of The Farmer’s Daughter’s story line. Not from the romantic story point of view, but from the point of a woman of integrity going into politics.

The McCain campaign needs to have Palin EVERY DAY from here to the election out in front, on TV, on radio, and on the trail. Every day.

Andy McCarthy has excellent advice for the McCain campaign:

The thing to bear in mind, and for the McCain campaign especially to bear in mind, is that Palin is weakest where she is shackled to McCain. Loyalty is big in my book, and Sarah is duly mindful of the opportunity McCain has given her — she’s loyal. But when it comes to the base McCain must galvanize — the base that loves her and is suspicious of him — she’s more valuable to McCain when she doesn’t sound like she’s reading his script.

I’ll add links to this post during the day.

LIE #15
Joe Biden’s alternate universe, via Instapundit,

In Thursday night’s vice presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin, Biden said the strangest and most ill-informed thing I have ever heard about Lebanon in my life. “When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, “Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.” Now what’s happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel.” [Emphasis added.]

What on Earth is he talking about? The United States and France may have kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon in an alternate universe, but nothing even remotely like that ever happened in this one.

Nobody – nobody – has ever kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Not the United States. Nor France. Not Israel. And not the Lebanese. Nobody.

As commenter Steve points out,

The most wack statement was his insistence that he wanted NATO to go into Lebenennon and that this was an obvious idea that he and Barak supported…I had no idea what he was talking about.

Lies #16 – 21:
National Review

The Constitution
Iraq-Afghanistan spending
Violence against women act
Restaurant
Arms control treaty
West Bank elections
Pakistani weapons

Adding throughout the day.

Regarding the West Bank elections, Charles posts,

not only did Biden confuse the West Bank and Gaza, he blatantly lied when he said that Barack Obama did not support the Palestinian elections that put Hamas in control of Gaza.

When it rains, it pours: #23

Biden wrongly claimed that McCain had said “he wouldn’t even sit down” with the government of Spain. Actually, McCain didn’t reject a meeting, but simply refused to commit himself one way or the other during an interview.

Update, Saturday 4 October
The lies Biden told

goes to it.

Re. #6: How many of McCain’s no votes were on farm subsidies to encourage corn-based ethanol production? McCain and Palin need to emphasize that there is smart environmental policy and dumb environmental policy, just like there are smart and effective regulations and dumb regulations. A busineswoman, mayor, and governor is more likely to know the difference. A perpetual campaigner and promiser, not so much.

Especially a perpetual campaigner who hasn’t held a real job for decades.

Thanks for posting the lies that Biden told. I linked to them on my blog.

It was a great night for those of us who wanted to see Palin do well. She provided relief for a lot of us and few targets that the liberal MSM can go after.

It should be a fun 30 days. They need to go after the “man made global warming” thing. Man may have SOME responsibility, but not to the extent that Joe’s trying to claim.

Good work. I have posted this on my blog,
    http://secondgenerationradical.blogmatrix.com/

Found out about your site from the great Phyllis Chesler.

As a Canadian, I wish my American friends well, as this crucial election occurs at a critical turning point – between a culture of “Tolerism” (where American values are belittled and enemy values are tolerated and encouraged) versus a culture of supporting and improving the politics of a great country. Do not worry if Europe doesn’t support you.
Do not be impressed with Obama’s nonsensical calls for mulilateralism with Europe or his calls to negotiate away your power with Iran. Europe, which in effect died also in the Holocaust, is self-destructing. Americans can go that way or you can resolve to be better and greater. And Mrs. Palin is a breath of fresh air.

I haven’t seen this item till this morning but it does appear that Sen. Biden has been receiving advice from unearthly sources. I can assume that all the food served at Katie’s is heavenly or a trifle dried out by now.

The lawyerly Sen. Biden never did explain NATO’s legal authority to href=”http://faustasblog.com/?p=6632#comment-6190″>attack Hezbollah, did he?

Was there anything that came out of that misandrous VAWA champion’s mouth that wasn’t misleading or an outright gaffe?
