Obama vs McCain: there are issues, and then there are fake issues

Real issue:
At the Official Obama Site: ‘The Israeli Connection to 9/11’
At the Official Obama Site: ‘Jemaah Islamiyah For Obama’. What is Jemaah Islamiyah? Take a look.
And At the Official Obama Site: ‘How the Jewish Lobby Works’, a post which was removed today

And guess what? They’re also now blocking Google’s cache from saving their pages. And they’ve also removed their pages from the Internet Archive and the Coral archives.

They’re running scared, and they’re trying to make sure that when they throw a post down the memory hole, it stays there.

Fake issue:
The wife U.S. Republican John McCain callously left behind.

The UK’s Mail is not keeping track of what goes up on the Obama website. Instead The Mail thinks that McCain’s divorce from twenty-eight years ago shows him to be “a man who is unusually slick and cruel”.

And who says so, pray tell? The first Mrs. McCain? No.
His children? No.
Ross Perot says so.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

UPDATE, Mnday 9 June
Doug Ross has more.

The story of McCain’s infidelity and divorce have been around for a long time, and while the Mail article is biased and sleazy, the incident is still an indelible black mark against him.

Twenty eight years ago, Anthony. And when you have a divorced candidate, that’s the kind of story that’s to be expected

Jeez, the last time I heard about H. Ross Perot he was running around on his front lawn with his hair on fire and being sprayed with a hose by Ed Rollins. Hasn’t Perot’s daughter been married yet?

Does anyone expect for someone not to be seriously affected after five years of total isolation from everything he used to live for, tortured, humiliated, etc.?

One more thing. Anything Ross Perot says should not be taken seriously. He was the biggest factor behind eight years of Bill Clinton. If he’s going to jinx these elections, he better say so right now, because I for one am not going to take the bait.

Pat: Personally, I thought Perot had flapped away on those ears of his years ago.

Fausta, that’s not “official” Obama groups. You or I could easily create a group on My.BarackObama.com called “Puppy Blenders for Obama.” You’re wasting your time attacking a tool instead of the candidate.

What it does show is the carelessness of the Obama campaign, letting those blogs exist for any length of time. Some of them had been up for 2-3 months.

They may not agree with them, but they tolerated them. The blogs were only removed after they were exposed on LGF.

With 800,000 people on My.BarackObama.com there’s no way a staff could find everything objectionable. The best way staff can know if someone spots it and complains. And when that happens that becomes a (pretty worthless) blogosphere story.

Sean, I agree with you up to a point, but if they are willing to sign up 800,000 registered users they need to also monitor what gets up on the site.

It’s one thing to have a couple of those posts turning up. It’s a whole different thing to have several of them up for months with commenters adding to them.

Here’s yet another one: socialist for Obama “Juan Carlos” spewing away about “the fascist state of Israel”.

Fausta, I have a feeling Obama’s web team is tightening the moderation screws to at least cut down the time between the offensive content is posted and when it’s pulled.

Still, nasty stuff will get through just like it gets through to the comments of my weblog, the comments of you weblog, even the comments of LGF. That’s the price a campaign pays when they try to gather their masses.

I agree with Sean and would go further and state that even when vile comments remain up for a while the host should still not be held accountable. Of course that would all change if a sizeable number of commenters agreed with the idiotic comment or if one of the hosts commented on the thread, hijacked or not!
