While I was in DC Barak Obama came out saying he’ll no longer wear a flag lapel pin. The candidates are abuzz, and of course so are the bloggers, one of which (who doesn’t need my link) asks the moronic question of the day, “So where is Sean Hannity’s lapel pin?” Excuse my asking but since when is Sean Hannity a presidential candidate?
Or did I miss that announcement?
Patriotic doesn’t mean correct, nor does it mean incorrect. Patriots have defended this country in its every crisis. Just because Barack Obama disagrees with people or think them foolish doesn’t mean that they have committed unpatriotic acts, which is why he began to back away from his foolish statement afterwards; he undoubtedly did not want to have to start naming names, because he had none.
Gerard, however, is more direct:
A more cynical person might believe that the only reason Obama is in the race is to make Hillary look like an actual patriot, and is, in fact, working for the Clintons on a nod and wink for 2012. But why would I believe something like that?
Also while I was away, Siggy wrote a post about last Wednesday’s podcast:
Could it be something other than environment that spurred or impeded human progress?
Environment no more affects human progress than does race. They are contributing factors, of course, but in the end there are three things that inspire or impede achievement or progress. Those things are principles, values and beliefs.
There are societies principles, values and beliefs made achievement and progress inevitable. Those are the cultures and societies that embraced change, and they valued those who carved out that change. It’s that simple.
Siggy is also a true friend without whom I wouldn’t be podcasting.
You don’t need to walk a mile for a CAMEL. Maxed-Out Mama has the scoop.
Alice the Camel ponders war.
Hugo’s little friend in Macon ponders higher office.
The immoderate Chris Matthews will be next Thursday’s moderator at the Republican debate.
Let’s hope he’s sober.
