Hugo’s thrown Hilton out of the Caracas Hilton, which will now become a “socialist hotel”.
Hilton says bye-bye: Caracas Hilton gets name change; government plans ‘socialist’ hotel
The landmark Caracas Hilton hotel was renamed the Alba on Saturday by President Hugo Chavez’s government, which owns the building and says it will now be a “socialist” establishment, the state news agency reported. After 38 years under the management of Hilton, the hotel is now called the Alba Caracas, the Bolivarian News Agency said. The new name means “dawn” in Spanish and is also the acronym of Chavez’s Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas trade initiative, which he started to counter U.S.-backed free trade deals.
When it comes to hotels, “socialist” = “fleabag”.
If you’re planning on a stay at the “new’ Alba,, my advise is that your bring your own Charmin.
As for those “negotiations”, Ace says it all.
Socialist hotel…
I’ll order the People’s Pasta and the Che Cherry pie for dessert.
If the food is no good or unavailable, I’ll claim the chef was trained in a colonialist, free and democratic country.
This people can’t stand being one minute without (badly) surprising everyone, can’t they?
By the way, if socialism (XXIst century style) is about rejecting luxury, how they are going to treat the inside of this building? Because I do not think this is similar to Cuban or North Korean houses, is it???
SC&A: heh, very good…
