Contrary to what the Granuiad readers would like you to believe, Venezuela has not been declared illiteracy-free by UNESCO.
In fact, Chief of Unesco Press Relations Section Sue Williams specifically has stated,
In 2005 the number of illiterate people in Venezuela was 1,166,409.
The population of Venezuela is 26,023,528, hence the illiteracy rate is 5%, higher than the US, Barbados, Uruguay, Argentina, Guyana, Grenada, Costa Rica, Chile and the Bahamas.
Oh the stories I could tell!!! about the Mission Robinson.
