The View and the radicals

Each time I’ve watched The View (the number of times you can count with the fingers of one hand), I’ve ended up wandering why men want to be near women. At least near those women.

And of course, Rosie had to share with us that she believes that “radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam“.

Let’s examine that statement, which the audience applauded:

WARNING: EXPLICIT DESCRIPTIONS

This is how women are treated under Sharia law:
Genital mutilation, which is performed for the pleasure of the husbands:

The American Academy of Pediatrics estimates that approximately 100 million Islamic girls between the ages of four and 10 have had their clitoris (and usually surrounding tissue) removed, typically without any anesthesia and while held down forcibly on a table or bench.

AAP said the procedure, typically performed with “instruments such as knives, razor blades, broken glass, or scissors,” is performed four million to five million times annually. In one of the six undisputed hadith collections (Sunan of Abu Dawud, chapter 1888), Muhammad states, “If you cut, do not overdo it, because it brings more radiance to the face and it is more pleasant to the husband,” and “Cut slightly without exaggeration, because it is more pleasant for your husbands.”

A report in Pediatrics (102:1 July 1998, pp. 153-156) explains that Muslim parents “feel obligated to request the procedure because they believe their religion requires female genital alteration.”

In January 1981, Great Sheikh of Al-Azhar (the head of the Islamic world’s most famous university) stated that “Parents must follow the lessons of Muhammad and not listen to medical authorities because the latter often change their minds. Parents must do their duty and have their daughters’ clitorises removed.” (See www.religioustolerance.org.)

Sex outside marriage: (link alert: extremely gruesome) Stoning to death is a cruel insane Islamic punishment given to people who are married but still voluntarily have sex outside marriage:

In stoning to death, the victims’s hands are tied behind their backs and their bodies are put in a cloth sack. Then, this human “package” is buried in a hole, with only the victims heads showing above the ground. If its a woman, she is buried upto her shoulders. This is to give her an seemingly equal (but nonetheless impossible) chance to escape recognizing her lesser physical strength.

After the hapless individual has been secured in the hole, people start chanting “Allah hu Akbar” (meaning, God is great), and throw palm sized stones at the head of the victim from a certain distance (a circle is drawn).

The stones are thrown until the person dies or until he/she escapes out of the hole and crosses the circle. Escaping is impossible, given that the individual’s hands are tied behind their backs and they are buried in a hole upto their necks or shoulders (in the case of males and females respectively).

The victims slowly die from bleeding, smothering and head trauma. The reason for the palm-sized stones is so the person doesn’t die from the first blow.

Lesbianism: Germany gives Iran lesbian asylum

She said she faced the death penalty if she returned to Iran, where homosexuality is against the law.

Gays are lynched in Iran, sometimes officially, where

The method of hanging is designed to cause slow, agonising strangulation

sometimes secretly in prisons, and are at times victims of honor killings:

“RawaagiiS (plural of raaguuS) are generally killed in Ahwaz, by the security forces or by their male kin, in one of three ways: strangulation, throat-slitting or decapitation. If the homosexual youths are killed by the security forces, their corpses — frequently decapitated but accompanied by their heads — are left in the street. Their families therefore have a certain tragic incentive to kill them more humanely and bury them secretly. In addition, amongst Iran’s Arab minority, male relatives of homosexual youths regard their murder as vindicating the honour of the clan and, indeed, of their ethnic group as a whole. [Name deleted] said that he knew of another youth from al-Aamiri [in Ahwaz], who was a raaguuS, and who had expressed the wish to escape Iran, but who was unfortunately killed before he was able to do so.” [8]

Additionally,

To prompt revulsion and support for executions, homosexuality needs to be associated in the public mind with violence and child abuse.

The Taliban punished homosexuality by execution: by having a wall pushed over on top of the condemned, hurled from high walls, beating to death, or killed by their colleagues. Many times the victims had been tortured to extract confession.

Terrorism can’t be ignored. Neither can we ignore what life under Sharia is like, even when Rosie and her audience in their ignorance choose to, or are not ignorant but instead morally bankrupt.

As Pope Benedict said

In the Western world it is widely held that only positivistic reason and the forms of philosophy based on it are universally valid. Yet the world’s profoundly religious cultures see this exclusion of the divine from the universality of reason as an attack on their most profound convictions. A reason which is deaf to the divine and which relegates religion into the realm of subcultures is incapable of entering into the dialogue of cultures.

Yet we are to think that “Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence,” [Pakistan’s] Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said (hat tip Armies of Liberation)

Update: The Dumb Ox has the Pope’s speech and an action alert.

I’ve seen full clitorectomies in Africa…to deliver, sometimes you have to cut two episiotomies, one front and one back…and the stiff scar tissue often leads to prolonged second stage of labour and holes in the bladder from the baby’s head pressure on the bladder…

However, the procedure is not Islamic in origin…merely spread with the religion…it predates Islam.
Hirsi Ali’s book has a lot on it.
