The attempt to redefine the Paris riots is reaching a fever pitch. There is an attempt, by the French, European and American media to cast the riots in purely economic terms. The left, in it’s predictable moral relativism, refuses to acknowledge the reality that there is something very wrong with Euro-Muslim society, a cancer that is about much more than economic deprivation.
There has never been a real attempt by the European Muslims to better themselves. If fact, they don’t even see a need for that. Their neighborhoods are dens of crime, rape and gang rape are rampant and there is no credible attempt to deal with that reality. Crime may be a part a cultures world wide, but in the case of the Paris and French suburbs (and much of the Euro Muslim community), it is perpetrated in the name of religion, and it is celebrated and encouraged by radical religious leaders. In fact, Amir Taheri writes,
Some are even calling for the areas where Muslims form a majority of the population to be reorganized on the basis of the “millet” system of the Ottoman Empire: Each religious community (millet) would enjoy the right to organize its social, cultural and educational life in accordance with its religious beliefs.
Religion becomes the state. The left is strangely silent on the matter- separation of Church and State isn’t as offensive when it involves religions other that Christianity or Judaism.
The Euro Muslim community failures can be measured in other ways. Immigrants from other place have poured millions into their own communities. In the Muslim community, millions are collected by ‘charities’ to teach jihad. Whole curriculums are developed and millions more spent on a network of schools and religious institutions that do not encourage integration or success, but rather, they focus on separation from the community at large and decry any contact with ‘les cochons’- the pigs. Yes, the riots are about economics- not the least of which is the economics of well funded Islamism and the ideology behind it.
There is a more disturbing aspect of the Euro Muslim community as well, that of the treatment of intellectuals.
One of the first things a repressive and tyrannical government does is silence the intellectuals, the forward thinker that might bring change to their communities. The forward thinking Muslims have always been under threat of violence or worse, because their ideas represent the growth that would take the power from the hands of the despots, and put it into the hands of the common man.
Writers, poets, artists, historians and even scientists are removed from positions of influence, or done away with entirely. That has happened in the Euro Muslim community. There are no forward thinking voices. They have all been intimidated. This wasn’t always the case- first generation immigrants did not have to deal with the radical jihadis. Sadly, their kids and grandkids, do- and they have been brainwashed. Parents of uncontrollable 13 and 14 year olds aren’t rioting for jobs. They are rioting and throwing firebombs because of malodorous beliefs.
Contrast that with what happens here. Those intellectuals, along with the common man, expelled from foreign nations or escaping their tyranny, are welcomed here and supported. We want and encourage their ideas and efforts. We do not fear change or new ideas. Our country flourishes in that intoxicating environment of growth and ideas that serves all men.
Some of the solutions being proposed to alleviate the situation include various forms of Affirmative Action programs. The French government, it is rumored, will force itself to hire a minimum of Muslim employees. In addition, it has also been proposed that each private employer will be forced to hire a certain percentage of immigrants. In all cases, qualification requirements will be waived for employment.
If Affirmative Action type solutions are to be imposed, these riots will prove to be a minor forerunner of what is to come.
