The rumble in the . . .pampas?
Leaving Venezuela for a few days to attend the fourth Summit of the Americas (it’s the fourth Summit of the Americas, but by now even I have lost track of how many summits I’ve mentioned in this blog), Hugo’s been saying Bush is afraid of him, and has been hinting “he might sneak up and scare Bush at the summit”.
To further enhance the carnival atmosphere, Argentina’s favorite soccer idol, talk-show host and recovering drug addict, Diego Maradona, fresh from his 5-year stay in Cuba trying to overcome his addiction, has urged viewers of his popular TV talk show to join him in a protest to “say no to Bush” outside the meeting. Maradona will be taking a train, dubbed the “Alba Express”, to Mar Del Plata, in the company of Bolivian presidential candidate Evo Morales and Cuban singer and composer Silvio Rodriguez.
