Who Really Represents the Hispanic’s Best Interest
in California?, asks Jim Lopez (via Chrenkoff):
While the Democrats are stuck in the “handout” solution to our problems, many of us find this insulting. We have been a proud race and truly believe that this “paternal approach” is not the answer.
Pride is achieved by accomplishments, not by handouts. Why the Democrat party had such a strong hold on a lot of our brothers and sisters is beyond my wildest guess. We as a Latino culture have always been conservative, believing in God, Family and country. Basically the Republican Party’s Credo. We have been fooled for many years by those preaching that the Democrats are the party of the poor. But how many of our people came to this country to get poor or should I say poorer?
Not all Hispanics are illegal aliens, undocumented nor disadvantaged grape pickers. Many Hispanics are second and third generation citizens born in this country and are highly productive.
In 2004 there were over two million Hispanic owned businesses that generated $247 Billion dollars in the United States. A testament that the Republican philosophy of giving a “hand up” and opportunity, is far better than any “handout” the Democrats can contrive.
While I disagree with Mr. Lopez’s in that “Hispanic” is not a race, just a couple of weeks ago I was stating that the liberal mindset of the vicitimized minority is an empty premise. Mr. Lopez has expressed this more eloquently.
