Didn’t watch the debate, updated x 2
. . . because I find Mr Kerry soporific. Hugh Hewitt, however, not only watched, but graded each answer. Jonathan V. Last kept score. My favorite blogger comments on some the interesting statements of the debate.
- When Kerry says that Iraq was not a center of the War on Terror it is hard to take him seriously as a man as anything but a liar. He’s read the history and is no doubt aware of Abu Nidal, Zarqawi, etc…. of Saddam’s relations with Al Qaeda in the Sudan and so forth.
- the original WTC attack in 93 had Iraqi connections. This effort to separate Irag from the WoT is tendentious bs
- Kerry just got caught mixing up plutonium and enriched uranium.
He continues to LIE about Iran. The Euros have a totally different interest in Iran. They are getting cheap oil for Iran via a deal they make with Khomeini. Maybe Kerry wants to join in
- Kerry opposes the US working on bunker busting nuclear weapons
Apparently Pres. Bush looked annoyed. Had I been forced to listen to the above nonsense I’d be looking annoyed, too.
On a fashion note, apparently Kerry got a manicure (after he got that fake tan that he didn’t get) yesterday, I guess to connect with The Sopranos constituency. The President had spent the day visiting people devastated by the Florida hurricane. Kerry wore the customary “power-red” tie; Bush wore a dark teal tie — The republicans are at the forefront of necktie colors (remember Arnold’s yellow tie at the RNC?). Both Teresa & Laura wore the same outfit, which would make Laura come out ahead since she’s younger and better looking.
This morning V.P Cheney points out the uselessness of a “global test”.
Update Lileks is in fine shape this morning.
Update 2: Zawahiri certainly seems to think Iraq is central to the war on terror.
Also, Kerry said the subways were shut down during the Republican convention. They weren’t.
