The Paris subway attack, updated x 2
Of this disturbing news, what disturbes me most is the fact that, in spite of the attack taking place at rush hour (last Friday, a little before 9AM),
Some twenty people “saw what happened, but none came to the aid of the victim, the police said, adding that only two passengers approached afterward. The woman was psychologically traumatized, the police said”. No one pulled the emergency brake, no one called the police to tell them that the assailants got out at Sarcelles station. Nothing.
Never mind that the socialists have called for a demonstration against “cruelty, antisemitism, racism and the xénophobie”; what matters is what the individuals present do at the time when it’s happening. All demonstrations are as meaningless as deploring that 15,000 (mostly elderly) people died last year during the heat wave because no one cared enough to check on them.
Collective mentality and a “spirit of solidarity” mean nothing — what’s important is what the witnesses are moved to do, then, right when it’s happening. Even if it’s just ringing the alarm.
Update: Agression antisémite: appel à témoins: The victim reported the crime herself when she arrived at her stop, Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis). No arrests have been made. No witnesses have come forward. The police have a toll-free number.
Second update None of the video cameras in the trains or the stations show any record of the attack, or of the attackers leaving the Sarcelles station. Is it a hoax?
