My latest article at Da Tech Guy blog, Marco Rubio at #CPAC2014: “America must be involved in leading the world”

Apparently their hopes of Christie being a front-runner among conservatives have been dashed, since “At least eight potential presidential contenders will be speaking at CPAC”. You’d think that by now, political reporters would have figured out that Republican and conservative are not synonyms.
But let’s not disabuse them of their notions, and encourage them to believe that, if Governor Christie beeeehaves, he’ll be invited to next year’s Oscars.
In other CPAC news, my friends at the National Bloggers Club are Sending Bloggers to CPAC. Lend them a hand!
Dear Lord . . .
. . . please hear my sincere prayer: However badly I screw up, whoever I may offend, whatever public act of idiocy I may ever commit, please —O, merciful God! — never let me be guilty of such foolishness as to deserve the kind of mockery Ace of Spades laid down on David Frum.
Also, my friend Ralph Benko was promoting his book on the gold standard, The 21st Century Gold Standard: For Prosperity, Security, and Liberty.
You can download The 21st Century Gold Standard.
The Occupy nuts were at CPAC, and Matt Lewis has a video, which apparently has the f-bomb, if you can make it out over the din,
Later on, the Occupiers moved down the driveway, and confronted Stephen Kruiser, who looked 100% like a one-percenter in pin stripes and 18k-gold earrings. I’ll add the video once he posts it.
Here’s a livefeed at what’s going on at 5:30PM,
Rick Santorum gave an excellent speech on the theme of conservative values, ideas, vision, and honor as contrast to the failed Obama administration policies.
As someone who has been totally unimpressed by Santorum up to now, I was very interested on what he had to say.
He was engaged, he engaged the audience, and drove his message directly, with humor, and with enthusiasm. He had some mild digs at Newt and Mitt without descending into personal attacks, and concluded with an an appeal to duty and honor.
Very good speech.
Israel Ortega, on the left, with friends at CPAC
I had the pleasure of talking to Israel Ortega of Heritage Libertad.
Q: What is the mission of Heritage Libertad, Israel?
Israel: To share the studies, analyses and research of Heritage.org, and to educate the Spanish-speaking public, since liberty is important in our country and the world.
Q: The Spanish-speaking public in America, and also in the world?
Israel: Yes, the Spanish-speaking peoples around the world.
Q: What’s next for Heritage Libertad?
Israel: We’ll be heading to Spain to promote the Index of Economic Freedom.
Linked by Heritage Libertad. Thanks!
Congressman Allen West stopped by Bloggers’ Row and answered our questions,
Among his remarks,
“If your policies (i.e., the Obama administration’s) have failed, the only thing you can rely on is the politics of envy and divisiveness.”
“I am about economic freedom, not economic dependency.” Asked about his interview in the film Runaway Slave, “we’ve got to get more people off the economic plantation.” Here’s a link to the film, Runaway Slave. I attended a preview last night, and recommend it.
