Next time try Sydney*

Buffalo State College hosts the national teach-in on Global Warming Situations today — a day the local temperature bottomed out at minus 6 degrees.

From an article titled “Frigid temperatures take WNY by surprise. Only someone totally out of it would be surprised by low temperatures in western NY state this time of year.

*I was talking to a friend from Australia the other day and they’re having temps in the 90s. Maybe the national teach-in should consider a change of venue or a different time of year.

    Once upon a time I flew back to Albany in February, the airport at Buffalo was snowed in, to interview for a graduate position at SUNY Binghampton. I had enough sense, it was in the 70’s in So Cal when I left, to actually have warm clothes on. But driving for miles between the two cities left me with the impression that a new Ice Age had begun as all the roads had 10-12 foot drifts and mounds of snow leftover from the snow plows. I took the job at SC.
