PREZ ZINGS GOP FOE IN A $TIMULATING TALK: “Resistance is futile”?
In a move out of the Borg,
or perhaps out of Rush Limbaugh’s agents’ wildest dreams, PREZ ZINGS GOP FOE IN A $TIMULATING TALK
President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package
Whoa!
Since it’s Rush Limbaugh who does the thinking for the Capitol Hill Republicans?
Never mind that, as Dan points out,
The job of a legislature is not to “get along.” It is to produce sound laws and policies.
And dissent, which formerly was “the highest form of patriotism,” is to go out the window,
Republicans say the $825 billion price tag is too big a burden for a nation crippled by debt and that it doesn’t do enough to stimulate the economy by cutting taxes.“You know, I’m concerned about the size of the package. And I’m concerned about some of the spending that’s in there, [about] … how you can spend hundreds of millions on contraceptives,” House GOP Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) later said.
“How does that stimulate the economy?”
But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs countered: “There was a lot of agreement in that room about the notion that we’re facing an economic crisis unlike we’ve seen in quite some time … that we must act quickly to stimulate the economy, create jobs, put money back in people’s pockets.”
I don’t particularly like Rush LImbaugh but you can subscribe to his broadcasts here. Do it before the Fairness Doctrine is law.

Via Larwyn, Jules Crittenden:
This is pretty good. Gandelman at the Moderate Voice issues a stern warning to Repub bloggers about the dangers of demonizing a president.
Note to Republicans who choose to go this route. There are a lot of independent voters who are truly tired of this kind of rhetoric and will not cast their vote for a party that indulges in it or encourages it.That raises a fascinating point. How the heck did the Dems win last November?

Limbaugh Responds to Obama
If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion dollar debacle.

I wouldn’t read too much into 08 results translating to 2010.
1. obama isn’t on the ballot.
2. less than 60% of the people who voted in 08 will vote in 2010.
3. 2008 had the % breakdown of congress at 53-44 for popular vote. Actual victories by seat provide for a 59-41 representation, meaning the dems are outperforming their actual support. The success in those numbers lies in the dems ability to run to the center, but given the size of the spending stimulus being floated, will make for poor traction for any conservative dem that came about in 06.

“There are a lot of independent voters who are truly tired of this kind of rhetoric and will not cast their vote for a party that indulges in it or encourages it.”
The independents left in 2006, based on the failure of the gop to curb spending. They never voted for the gop out strong idealogical agreements, but as a lesser of two evils. When they failed to keep govt small, their support withered from independent conservatives.
displaying good manners won’t bring them back, only strong fiscal conservatism. They still lack that appearrance of being strong fiscal conservatives on their own, but fortunately they have a chance to make significant ‘relative’ gains by how large govt is about to get under democrats.

fausta:
the king cobra is the most powerful and fearsomely awesome snake in the world. big, fast, poisonous & quite lethal.
even so, the cobra knows the power wielded in a common hoe, sharp edged as it is, and knows how to “negotiate.”
witness the cobra’s “hood.”
when it wishes to present its most awesome aspect it stands, and spreads its hood, and it hisses and moves back and forth, in a most sinister fashion. in short, it announces that it is extremely dangerous, very large, and quite ready, willing and able to do battle.
it does this in precisely those situations where it views battle as problematic. if it were convinced of victory, it would simply attack and kill its victim, and accept the inherent risk of doing so as acceptable. it is were fearful, it would turn and flee.
barrack obama understand this, and understands the calculus.
the republicans have not got a stinking f_____g clue. they do not bluff and bluster, they do not assess, they slink away into the shadows adn the recesses of burrows.
they are loosers. we can expect nothing from them.
we have to protect our liberties on our own dime. and, the way to protect our liberties is not to say, oh, bother, we give up, in our best damned winnie the pooh emulation. no, by g_d, we have to say that we are willing to kill in order to protect our liberties, and we have to say just exactly in no uncertain terms just who we intend to kill: leftist radicals like ayers, and leftist politicians who betray our heritage.
let us stand in our most awesome aspect, as an armed citizenry, ready, willing and able to act. right fucking now.
let us have the courage of our convictions, if need be.
let the other side have the task of assessing its risk in this light, instead of the light of confronting craven cowards, who are afraid to stand, fight and defend.
this is, by g_d, how one negotiates.
and, this is how one prepares for battle, if need be.

The most dangerous aspect of the Republican Party is the way republican senators and congresspeople lined up like little marrionettes who voted as they were told nearly 100% of the time. It also did not help that most of the legislation put consolidation of power and favoritism toward business ahead of the general welfare, civil liberties, the rule of law, and the Constitution. They are naive in their belief that successful people are naturally vituous and patriotic when it is often the case that the opposites are true placing profits ahead of most other considerations. Their behavior over the last eight years has been shameful especially concerning their obvious contempt for and disrespect of average Americans. Until they learn a little humility they will be lucky to be elected dog catcher let alone achieve high office. Their abuse of power was treasonous in one instance, at least, and criminal in other ways. It is sad to see the grand old party that once supported small businessmen become nothing more than toadies for corporate interests. The election of Barack Obama was a rejection of conservatives’ deceptions, secrecy, authoritarianism, theft, fraud, and abuse of power and if democrats behave in the same heavy handed manner toward the people they too will be soundly rejected. Barack Obama won in a landslide when one considers that he started with a 17% deficit of people who would not vote for any black man or woman. His victory was a twenty-three percent spread. How long has it been since there was that much difference in percentage between the two national party candidates?

Someone needs to inform j.j. that there are no true “leftists” in America; it is just a label the right wing uses to divide Americans on minor, but emotional issues. It is exactly because it seeks to divide our nation’s citizens so that it can consolidate power for one party rule that it does not deserve to win elections, nor the allegiance of Americans seeking competence and clarity of perception in its leaders.

Of course there are no true Leftists in America! The Communists draw the line at the kind of mendacity and expontential idocy that the Obamabots put out.
There are few undecideds, there are many uneducated and ill informed. Do people really not have opinions about taxes, abortions, the death penalty, a court that rules supreme? Only in Leftwingnut heaven.
The greatest gift the right has today is the classlessness, venality and greed of the Leftwingnuts.
Not too many people can follow someone who wallows in incoherence and depend on the support of the crazed, unemployed, and racist to pass an agenda that even Marx would have trouble endorsing for its radicalism.
But never under estimate the persistence of venality nor the envy of the uneducated.

Loved this analogy of the Obamabots and the Borg. I’ve been labeling them the ObamaBorg Bots for quite some time.
In my post at Talk Wisdom: The Gray Soup, Rev. M Bresciani makes the connection as well.
Excerpt:
“Liberalism is having its day on a global scale. The United States is only a notch behind Europe in becoming the second great home for secular liberalisms gray soup where all absolutism is dissolved into a giant pot of tolerance and diversity. It promises to feed the world but it is un-palatable under the strong light of truth.
When many ideas are allowed to co-exist in a democracy where the tolerance is generated by common respect, miracles can take place. When different ideas are quickly stirred and mixed together by the force of law only anger, confusion, contradiction and despair result.
The by product of forcing everyone to speak and even think alike is always contradiction. Ignorance of human nature is the stupidity that fuels liberalism. People levitate toward their own heartfelt convictions about God, country, politics and all else. The new liberalism seeks to require, to mandate, to legislate that we all think as we are “supposed to think.” We become the Borg (Gene Roddenberry’s forced one mind culture) and because the gray slop is now the rule of law “resistance is futile.” But is it?”
