Hillary for Secretary?
Hillary Clinton: Former First Lady in the 42d administration, may be getting a job in the 44th administration, at least according to Andrea Mitchell:

Two Obama advisers have told NBC News that Hillary Clinton is under consideration to be secretary of state. Would she be interested? Those who know Clinton say possibly.
The Moderate Voice’s Joe Gandleman has a roundup of reports, including the Obama campaign non-denial.
I for one can’t wait for Hillary to be pulling her weight in White House meetings, Bill back in Washington Oh-shucking his way around, and, if all works well for all of us political bloggers, Eliot Spitzer taking Hillary’s vacant Senate seat.
I wonder if Obama will also bring in former Clinton buddy Henry Cisneros, too. He’d probably love a job straightening out Fannie Mae.
We’ll never run out of blogging material.

Oddly enough, I’d feel somewhat comfortable with Hillary at State. She’d certainly be tougher than almost any other Democrat would be in negotiations (just to prove her critics wrong), and she’s so utterly devoid of any attachment to principal that I wouldn’t be concerned with her following a doctrinaire “dove” line.
Trouble is, the Secretary of State is the President’s employee, and she would have to follow the course Obama sets. But the clash of personality between the two should be fun to watch.
In the end, I can’t see her taking the job, giving up her power base in the Senate to become his subordinate, when she would perhaps need it to make an insurgent run against Obama in 2012.

I agree. It would be the closest thing to political suicide, at least for ther presidential ambitions.
OTOH, it would make for lots of good blogging material…

Well, Hillary as SecState would certainly de preferable to Kerry! Of course, I suppose even Bozo would be better than Kerry, so that’s not saying much *snicker*

I hate to say it, but I think Kerry is the leading choice. It would be the return of Cyrus Vance and Warren Christopher. Aaaiieee!!!!

I picked a good year to start blogging…now if I could only make a living doing so, but I digress.
Sen. Clinton will not become SoS, IMHO. As I mentioned to a reader earlier today, she might take her Hill n Bill show and go rogue (just as The One tried to do on his World Pre-Victory Tour). Obama would have a two-headed dragon to slay then.
