The Obama Department of Peace & Non-Violence
Three friends sent this link: The Obama Department of Peace & Non-Violence
I really thought it was one of those FWD’d jokes one gets, but it isn’t. There really is a bill in Congress, HRH 808, for a Department of Peace and Nonviolence Act (Introduced in House), proposing such delights as
Office of peace education and training
Office of domestic peace activities
Office of international peace activities
Office of techonology for peace
Office of arms control and disarmament
And a few others, including the punch to your money, but which also carries the added spice of evoking the UN, that repository of Human Rights paragons across the world:
(a) In General- There shall be in the Department an Office of Human Rights and Economic Rights, the head of which shall be the Assistant Secretary for Human Rights and Economic Rights. The Assistant Secretary for Human Rights and Economic Rights shall carry out those functions in the Department supporting the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights passed by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 10, 1948.
Andy McCarthy comments,
This, natch, is separate and apart from Wage Insurance (aka “Spreading the Wealth”), Obama’s proposed Global Poverty Act (aka Spreading the Wealth to the Globe through the UN), tax relief for oppressed classes such as trial lawyers (aka Spreading More Wealth to Top Democrat Donors); and gasoline subsidies (aka Spreading the Wealth to America’s enemies who are hurting now that oil is down to about $60/barrel).
No wonder Melanie Phillips is asking, Is America really going to do this? (h/t LGF)

11B40,
Sure. They get Barney Frank to give you a kiss after he’s raised your taxes, and they get Joe Biden to tell you fairy tales before you go to bed.

Our new national anthems, “Peace, Love and Understanding.” Or better yet “War,” good God y’all.

This is not Obama’s plan nor is it Hillary Clinton’s idea. As a peace monger, I think it is about time we start working on ways to prevent violence both internationally and domesticly. It is amazing that some people don’t want to spend money to promote non-violence but do not mind that a huge chunk of their taxes are spent on war.
