Remember Kelo?
Remember how the town of New London, Conn. took away Suzette Kelo’s house “for public use”?
Well, the public certainly was used.
Pfizer abandons site of infamous Kelo eminent domain taking
Scott Bullock, Kelo’s co-counsel in the case, told me: “This shows the folly of these redevelopment projects that use massive taxpayer subsidies and other forms of corporate welfare and abuse eminent domain.”
Hey, the case created precedent, too.

Amazing arrogance of the 5 justices that carried this decision. Proves that we must teach the constitution in schools as our founders expected and did.

I remember that Pfizer at the time said that the city had acted on its own and that the company had no interest in acquiring the land as they already had a cleared site. The headline above is somewhat misleading, as is article, because Pfizer is leaving New London completely and they never even had an option on the property.
