…and how are you going to pay for that “free” healthcare?

Via Dan Riehl, Houston–er, Washington–We Have a Problem

On Wednesday, according to a Capitol Hill source, the Senate Finance Committee distributed to its members a list of about twenty ways to help pay for health care reform. Everything you could imagine was on the list: Taxes on soda and cigarettes.

I thought soda was being banned?

More savings from Medicare and Medicaid.

In what way? As in, cutting down on services covered? Reducing payments to providers who already don’t cover their expenses with Medicare’s payments? Increasing Medicare deductibles? Raising the age one becomes eligible for Medicare?

A value-added tax.

Didn’t Obama promise that he wouldn’t raise taxes – and actually promoted a tax cut on the middle class?

Predictably, Obama Budget Chief Says Health Bill ‘Not Enough’ to Fix System. They want more. Kinda-sorta that second stimulus we’re hearing about, only that they don’t even have a bill ready.

But not to worry. The article says,

“Sometime soon–very soon–those committees will unveil their full bill, which the architects say will pay for itself. This is very good news.”

There! Don’t you feel better already?

    Fausta,

You don’t get it. Obama can tell if we cling to our cokes and root beers, and he will tax us for having bad thoughts. Of course, he will adhere to all FISA requirememnts before peering into our souls. He promised!
