The Anchoress posts this photo, with the comment,

All of Mrs. Obama’s attractiveness is subsumed by an outward manifestation of an inward (and thus sincere) sort of ugliness. It made me feel bad for Mrs. Obama who sometimes seems like a most unhappy woman.

Unfortunately, The Anchoress is right.

There is no amount of success, fame, fashion, travel and privilege that can bring you happiness. It has to come from you.

    And she’s one of the beautiful people? That picture proves that beauty is only skin deep…if there were ever an example of such a thing, Michelle Obama’s surly mug is a picture worth pasting.

    It’s obvious that I’m no Obama fan but drawing any conclusions from one picture among the probably hundred or so taken that day seems to stretch credulity. I’ve posted another picture probably just as reliably an indicator of the true nature of Mrs. Obama but just as useless because of its briefness. I just don’t think it’s wise to caricature this First Lady anymore than the last First Lady.

    Besides I’m sure that eventually there will be something Mrs Obama does that is truly indicative of her character rather than a snap.

    This is a joke, right? Have you seen the many photos of Bush and Cheney with strange or mean facial expressions? A momentary facial expression captured randomly is meaningless.
