From the amateur show at the Obama offices of protocol and foreign relations
Indefatigable in their quest to alienate every ally the US has, the Obama administration is serially aggravating each one, one at a time:
And now, for Brazil’s turn … because of Saint Patrick’s day (h/t Hot Air):
Silva aides said the trip was pushed forward from Tuesday because of the St. Patrick’s Day holiday – making Latin America once again look like an afterthought. Then, the White House announcement misspelled his name as “Luis Ignacio” and put “Lula” – a nickname that decades ago became a legal part of the Brazilian leader’s name – in quotes.
Is Obama Irish? Or Catholic? Don’t they have proofreaders at the White House? Or is it because it’s day 53?
Lula has gone on the record saying
“it’s been a privilege to have been among the presidents who are building good relationships with the United States.”
Brazil is becoming a leader in Latin American diplomacy, and Lula has distanced himself from from Hugo Chávez’s highly inflammatory style of politics. So please, could someone explain to me, what is the matter with the Obama White House??

This is embarrassing…
First they grovel and apologize to anyone they can find while slagging the prior administration, then they can’t translate English to Russian, then they insult the Prime Minister of our closest ally, and now the Obama Administration can’t even spell….

[...] Obama think the magic unicorn will answer the phones? Run the payroll? Order the catered lunches? Run the spell check on White House announcements? Hell-o? Bueller? [...]

It boils down to their Pavlovian response to the word PARTY. The Irish know how to throw a good party, so the WH could give a rat’s patootee if they spelled some Brazilian’s name wrong. Unless, of course, he’s bringing that painted dancer that got you all the Stacy McCain Rule 5 attention. Then they’d straighten up (no pun intended) and plaster banners with his name spelled correctly all over Pennsylvania Avenue.

Come on you’ve never heard of the O’Bamas of Black Irish fame and legend? Right up there with Michael Collins and Brian Boruma or rather the famous Irish king, Brian Boraimhe.

Don’t they have proofreaders at the White House?
That would be a resounding “no.” Also, Lula is Brazilian; his name would have been written Luiz Inácio, which is the Portuguese spelling, whereas they used the Spanish spelling.
Maybe something small for us, but this faux pas is hardly insignificant.
