I have been reading your blog post at Real Clear Politics and I agree that a worsening economy is not a factor that can weaken Chávez. I think that these dictators (like also Mugabe or Putin) feast precisely on the economic crisis. If you reduce people to a state of economic misery and make them dependant from the State, the grasp on them will be great if the economic situation is bad. Not greater than if it were good, but in any case it’s going to be diminished.
