BREAKING: Hugo Chavez’s farewell speech?

Tonight, in what may be his last cadena on Venezuelan TV, Hugo Chavez declared that, following his victory on the October 7 presidential election, he was found to have “more malignant cells in the affected area,” and it is “indispensable, absolutely necessary” that he leave for Cuba tomorrow for emergency surgery.

More importantly, he named vice-president Nicolás Maduro his successor,

If anything was to happen…I ask you to choose Nicolás Maduro as president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

while also urging the military to maintain unity.

Chavez’s condition must have worsened significantly. This is basically a resignation.

This is so sad, a great man who is battling not for life, but to maintain freedom for the true believers of a civil society. I wish you well Hugo and God bless you.

Cancer is a disease I wish on no one, but I won’t mourn for Hugo Chavez when he finally dies. He’s a cancer on humanity.

Unfortunately, there won’t be any relief for the people of Venezuela.

I hope this is not the last we hear from Pres. Chavez. Whether or not he leaves the Presidency, he is one of the greatest leaders in the history of Western Civilization.
